Survey: Lifted Jeeps

So I'm eventually wanting to lift my Jeep... I have the biggest tires I get get without lifting, but it's still SOOOOO far from where I want to be.

Question 1:
Did you:
- buy your Jeep already lifted
- do the lift yourself
- pay someone to do it so u didn't f it up

Question 2:
How big of a lift do u have and is it a body and/or suspension lift?

Mine came with a 1 1/2" chassis lift, then I added another 1 1/4" body lift and 31" tires......

You might get more/better results by asking this in the TJ section.

I know it's somewhat late as far as the question timing; I just saw it and thought could be useful, even if it's old enough. What year is your Jeep by the way?

4" Suspension lift, dealership work. I paid a little more for it but that way it's covered under the warranty. 35" tires on 18" wheels. Some people say the 18's are too big for rock crawling, but mine isnt a rock crawler, it's made to get me where I need to go to pursue my other hobbies... rock climbing, fishing, kayaking, hunting, etc. Here's what it looks like next to my wife's stock rig:

I had Dewey lifted - 3 inch Black Diamond, so I could put some 33 inch Mickey Thompsons underneath. The ride is a little stiffer, but I LOVE the height!

When you order, make sure to ask how long it will be to actually get the kit. I waited at least 2 months before even seeing the kit arrive, something about a lot of backordered parts. And I really needed the new tires...my ProComps were really spare!

If you can't do the work yourself, make sure you find someone who knows Jeeps.

mstj...like i said before, you should have a "lift party" ...make friends with some locals...or your bf could? and tell everyone you'll provide food & drinks if they can help you out....i bet you'll get a few volunteers.

I actually found someone who will be able to help me and teach me how to do it at the same time. Just have to start saving up some money to make it happen. If it wasn't for that though I still love the idea of a lift party! Seems like the best kind of party there could be! :-D

Good for you!

Learning how to install the lift will help you learn how to identify problems on the trail and do your own mods.

Modifying your Jeep can become addicitive though, beware...

Lets see your rig? I started with a stock jeep a year ago. Installed a 3.5" rubicon lift and a 1" body lift. 35" tires.

4 inch zone lift installed myself, 35"tires. Was at the local Offroad shop to pick up parts and couldn't believe how much the guy in line spent on labor to instal a lift. Makes my glad I work on it myself

Bought a stock Jeep and added a 2.5 springs and 31s. When the 31s are wore out I'm gonna put a 4" lift and 33s with front locker and add a superwinch. Do everything myself, if I can take it apart I can put it together.
