I kind of think I would get the Jeep first and then get inked wel after getting acquainted with my ride. IMHO

I think I'd say think long and hard about it as you carry them for life. I'd also say make sure you get a good artist, check his work. Things that are less free form design and more realistic are easy to screw up. Choose an artist who deals in real subjects.

And make sure you post a pic when it's done. I love ink.

Odhinn has tons of Tats. One of my favorites is his Harley Davidson one. I don't particularly think getting names/name brands, etc is a smart move but I don't think you can go wrong with Classics like Jeep and Harley.

With that much detail, I'd say shoulder. It's going to need to be big or your artist will need to pick and choose the details that matter. Black and grey or color? It would be cool in monochromatic (just army green)

I was thinking about getting a jeep tat my self but decided against it. Yea, I love jeeps but I dont want to be a billboard for jeep the rest of my life.

Mind if I ask if this is going to be your first Tat Nick?
That Tat will look cool but there are indeed many things to consider.

im going to to get black and grey, i think it would be easier to get the detail. army green would be sweet. i talked with an artist already and they said that same size would be good to do, it would take 3 hours of sit time.

Only three? Mine took two and has no real detail. Granted it's big (and not finished). Check the artist's work!!!! I've seen soooo many lousy tats that started out as a great idea but the artist wasn't able to pull it off.

That pic (tat) of the jeep^ is going to have to be pretty big in order to get the detail needed to pull it off and make it look good. At least as big as the pic shown the bigger the better IMHO
The other thing to think about is the sun. If you get much sun in the summer your shoulder is not the best place for it if you spend much time with your shirt off. Sunscreen/Shmunscreen, if your in the sun much and get tan, over time you will loose the grey and it will looose the detail you are looking for.

It can be recolored but its just something to think about.

first off no.
sports teams, names of lovers, cartoon caracters, product emblems(IE, chevy symbols, nike swooshes, jeep sybols) pretty much anything unoriginal, are big no nos in the tattoo world. when you go in to get these things done the artist is laughing at you all the way to the bank. this is not just my opinion, this is fact. my bestfriend and roommate of 8 years has been a tattoo artist for about 10 years. so think about it before you go puttin something like that on your body, honestly

Sorry, but artists have to eat just like anyone else and very few people laugh at what pays the bills. The day I let go of that artist bullshit was the day I started bringing in bigger projects that paid well.

not quite sure what it is your trying to say.
if you dont think tattoos artists are not artists then your an ignorant
if your saying your are a tat artists then you should know that what i am sayin is true
but like i said to do any type of tattoo in that variety, makes you many things none of them cool. and like i said the artist is laughing at you the whole time, and taking your money, i dont know where to beging with all the stories he has told me of duma$$es and what they get tatted on themselfs.
and believe me he is hardly starving

Well, when I went in to get my ink done the least of my concerns were whether or not the tattooist thought I was cool. Who gives a rat's ass honestly. My ink is mine, my own design and very personal. My jeep is also mine and very personal. If I want it tattooed across my butt who cares what the inker thinks. He's not my buddy, he's someone I'm paying to do a job. Plain and simple.

#12 is right on one point, don't listen to the artist, a tat is a personnal freedom, what is important is what it means to you.

other than the "of course thats what they are going to tell you" there has been no "FACT" in anything you have stated thus far.
I have yet to hear any "tat artists" I know, Laughing about someone that got a Chevy symbol or anything of that sort. Your girlfriends name most decent artists wont even do. If they are laughing at a chevy symbol its only cuzz whoever got it inked on them got it huge and they made a good $ for it.
As far as dumb, corny, or WT. That is "Your" opinion of what "you" stated.

Iv actually seen some stupid tattoos on people who get body suits or sleeves. Who really gives a flip what the rest of the artists in the community have to say about a certain tat?

I do believe that the work that a tattoo artist does on someone is their signature and reflects back on them. The artist does have the right to turn down work that they dont like but thats rarely going to happen so I think its a obligation to their work to work with that customer to make what they want into a work of art.

Iv seen MANY Harley Davidson tattoos that were turned into great pieces of art. Its when a good artist turns into a stuck up snob like Kat Von D from Miami Ink and now LA ink thats when they lose respect in my book. Yea, something may be stupid but you as a artist can offer to work on a piece to make it better.

If your a true artist then you should be open to working with the client, simple as that. That is my opinion tho how ever right or wrong it may be.

all of what i have said is "fact" based upon my experieces. and those of my roommates, whom like i said before is and has been a tattoo artist for 10 years. in no way was i trying to be mean or rude i provided my knowledge about the subject under discussion as well, you all have, as it would appear my "opinion" holds more water...

I'd rather not start a pissing match with you my E-friend but to call anyones tat stupid, corny,or WT seems to be more of an insult than a "fact". Especially if you have no idea what it means to them, which is what should count.
