Absolutely. It is like having great friends, no matter where you go. And the places it takes you, is awesome too.

The Fall Texas Spur JJUSA 51 days away

Okay; the Fall Texas Spur Jeep Jamboree is now only 51 days away...

To hit my 1st weight goal; to be at 220 by sign in day at the Texas Spur in Llano I would need to loose 4.2 pounds a week.

If I can dump the first 10 pounds ASAP I will be able to get to that much easier weight loss rate of 2.5 - 3 pounds per week.

Do you think I would be crazy to adjust my first goal to 210 lbs for the Llano Trip?

I know as time goes on losing more weight will be more difficult and as I work out I will build muscle mass and it weighs much more than fat.

So I know the and I'm expecting for the weight loss rate will slow as time goes on.

Here is what I'm thinking:

  • 250 Start Weight BMI 39.2
  • 210lbs by 9/12/2008 - Texas Spur Jeep Jamboree Llano - 51 days
  • 195lbs by 10/6/2008 - My Wifes Birthday - We will go somewhere - 82 Days
  • 185lbs by 11/1/2008 - Jeep Jamboree Challenge Pearsall Texas - 115 Days
  • 165lbs by 12/31/2008 - New Years Eve - 176 Days
  • 155lbs by 03/12/2009 - My 46th Birthday! - 246 Days
  • Target weight 155.00 that would be a 95lb loss taking my BMI to 24.3

Is this just too far fetched?

If I were to get to a BMI of 24.3 it would get me out of the Overweight Category of BMI of 25 for my height according to the US Department of Health

NOTE: For the first 6 entries, we will display a bar graph here. After the first week,
your graph will become a line graph with a rolling seven day average trend line.

Still looking for that 210 lbs by the Time the Texas Spur Jeep Jamboree rolls around 51 Days to go!!!

Yesterday I tried to be a good boy but last night as I was wrapping up my 4 miles on the treadmill at the 4.4 mph pace. My wife showed up with two orders of Taco Dinners . She insisted I eat with her; I don't think she was trying to sabotage my weight loss efforts... I think she was just hungry so I ate one whole taco with the crunchy shell and the stuffing from the other two... I also ate the beans but tossed the rice. And "NO" I did not have any chips or a beer to wash it down; Only water....

In fact I drank 3.5l of water yesterday 1 Diet Coke and an 8oz glass of OJ after I got off the treadmill.

So to make up for my dietary mishap I did two more miles on the treadmill but only at the 3.2mph pace.

So imagine my surprise this am when I weighed in at 245 lbs so far that is 5 pound loss in just two days!

My only though was "Would I have been at 244 this am ad I not eaten the Tacos???"

Cool email!

I got this im my email today...

Great Insperation:

It came from SparkPeople.com

Week of 07/24/2008 - Featured Board Post

You can't change the past, so change the future!

"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." -- Maria Robinson

This is my all-time favorite quote. I'm very much a "black and white," "all or nothing" thinker. If I screw up just once, then I've blown it and might as well quit. This reasoning is how I got so fat, and why I haven't been able to lose it until now. If I made one tiny mistake on my "diet" or took a day off from the gym (that usually turned into 2, 3, or 4 days) then it was automatically a failure, and that gave me license to binge and sit motionless for days at a time. No more, I say!

I don't want to spend my life fat and miserable. I don't want to die of an obesity-related disease like heart disease or diabetes. I want to run, and climb mountains, and go skydiving, and be seen by society as intelligent and hard-working (neither of which is ascribed to obese people). Basically, I want a happy ending, not a sad one.

So, regardless of how I got fat or how long I've been fat, I'm going to change my ending. Every day I'm going to get up and be thankful that I'm here and that I have the opportunity to prove my strength to myself and the world. What an amazing gift to be able do such a thing! Many people go through life wondering whether they're strong or not - I know I am, I've proved it.

This quote can apply to so much other than just weight loss, which is part of why I love it, but it's also so perfect for my weight loss efforts. I can't start over. I wish I could go back to when I was 16 and had a flat stomach, but I can't. I have to start now, today, with what I have, and work my way to that point again. Tomorrow never comes - there's only today. So, putting off your weight loss efforts "until tomorrow" means they will never happen. You have to do it now, today, and make the choice to be healthy and happy.

And if I "fall off the wagon" again? That was yesterday - this is today. And today is all I have, so I need to make the most of it! It won't be easy, but it's already worth it!

Jason's Deli

Help me experts!

I love this salad from Jason's Deli

I am well aware that this is not the leanest meal I can have but it loaded with goodies that I love. What do you think if I eat this as my major meal before 5:00pm. Compared to other "take out" alternatives it is not that bad. when I eat one I'm full and don't need to eat the rest of the day.

" Nutty Mixed Up Salad

You won’t believe this salad. It’s packed with organic field greens, grapes, chicken breast, feta cheese, walnuts, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, raisins and apples. The featured item on this salad: the organic field greens! And like all Jason’s Deli products this one contains No artificial trans fats or MSG.

I'm thinking a few bowls of whole grain cereal with Soy milk and some fresh fruit during the day and I would be in good shape as far as hunger and I won;t get tired of eating this...At least for a while.

Perhaps on the days I don't at this salad I could have Grilled; Fish, Chicken or a Steak?

Diet drinks are worse than tacos! The fake sweetner fools your body, and is actually worse than the real thing.

doing great except for the part where we said "EAT SEVERAL SMALL MEALS A DAY" . I cheat a whole lot but if you are keeping your cardio up and drinking lots of water you will reach your goal. Oh and try to make it fun and not so much a chore or you'll burn out quickly. And another thing if the treadmill gets to be too much for your knees or back then try a elliptical machine (my fav for years after injuring my knee breaking up a 7 man fight in a cell alone) you can set incline as well as resistance and no shock to any body joints. Keep up the good work.

You did see this post in the joke thread, right?

Give credit where it is due... RatherBNMexico posted it.

This over weight guy is trying everything to lose weight. So he looks on the internet and see an ad for a weight loss program thats states you can lose 10 pounds in 1 week. He orders it. A couple days later it arrives. This pretty girl is standing in at the door with short shorts and a t shirt that reads "if you can catch me, you can have me." He runs after her every day for a week. He loses 10 pounds! Orders there 2nd stage workout which he can lose 20 pounds in a week! Couple days later, the most beautiful girl is at his door with nothing on but a top that says "If you can catch me, you can have me". Well a week passes, no girl, but he lost 20 pounds. So he gets their third and final stage, 1 week 40 pounds. Couple days later a man with a pink shirt and running shoes is at his door with a shirt that says "If I can catch you, your ass is mine" He losses 60 pounds that week..........

Today's weight:

Not too bad for three days...

But Like I have said the first 15 - 18 lbs are easy

it's the rest that of the fat that will take WORK!

And the Fall Texas Spur is only 50 days away now!

Lastnight...

Last night when I got home my family was watching USA vs Canada Basketball; they were having Pizza for dinner.

I gave in and had three slices of Thin Crust Vegetarian Pizza and drank one Coors. Now I know that is not good; but a week ago it would have been more than half a pizza and a 12 Pack of Coors. So I am making some progress; after dinner I went outside and mowed and edged the the front and back lawn.

My wife and I picked up the house and did all the cleaning form our company.

After she went to bed about 10:30 I got on the treadmill for 1:30 min did 4.25 miles and afterwards had a bowl of Raisin Bran with Soy and I'm happy to report even after all that today's weight was...

I'm also trilled to report that I'm beginning to feel better and I can feel a bit more room in the waist of my pants

10 lbs, your doing great man. As a general rule I try not to take in more than 20grams of total fat per day max. Measuring your intake is the #1 way to lose weight. Salads are very tricky... they have lettuce and vegatibles which makes them sound healthy, but with all the other stuff can make them worse than two of the double cheeseburgers at In-N-out

Also, cardio for 20 or 30 minutes a few times a week is also necessary. I tell that your dedicated to this so you got that goal in the bag. Elliptical machines are easy on the joints and do the job. Easier than the treadmill.

I'm working on it when I dump this next 15 lbs my plan is to get back in to the gym and start some LIGHT/High rep strength training. I like the Elliptical machines and I use to do 1hr to 1 1/2 hours on it every time I worked out.

Then when I get to that 215 Mark My plan is to join a tie-kwan-do Gym and start on some Kick Boxing.

I want to wait till I lose some weight so I don't buy a a second uniform right away. It looks like I can wear a large form 200 ish all the way down to 170lbs.

My plan is to visit a tie-kwan-do gym here in Odessa on Monday.

Thanks guys!

Thank you all so much for the support!

I just got back form a 4 mile run at the Duck Pond.

Today at Church I was not even tempted by the fresh donuts!

Okay... They did look good but I did not have one.

I also spent about three hours outside working on the yard!

I'm getting pumped by the activity!

Great Job!!! Post before pics. You will appreciate it in a couple weeks when the weight loss slows down! Take a picture about every month, or when ever you feel like working out is a waist of time!

I'm beginning to think the SECRET to weight lost might be posting your daily progress to a forum!

If this works I might write a BOOK!

No Loss to report

My weight was the same today as it was Sunday... Sort of a Bummer but the good new is their was no Weekend Weight Gain!

I'm beginning to to look and feel different my jewelry: wedding ring and my DaimlerChrysler ring go on and off without having to put lotion on my hands!

Today I was able to put on a pair of slack that have not fit me in over two years! Their snug but they fit!

I had more food yesterday than I had been eating because we had company at the house all weekend and I did Grill out but I did not have any of those Grilled Potatoes brushed with olive oil and Tabasco sauce, and seasoned with Garlic Pepper All Season and YES they were grilled to perfection!

I had an eight oz Steak and a pile of green beans and washed it down with water.

The good news is I managed to resist the Fresh Donuts at Adult Bible Class before Church. Not an easy task!

Last night about eight I went to the Duck Pond and ran four miles, I'm not sure if I like that more then running in the AC on my treadmill??? The humidity made it sort of uncomfortable.

Last night we went to Logan's for dinner.

I had the grilled Talapia, A seared vegetable sewer with a salad & black ice tea...

It was good but, a tad too much salt for my taste.

But you have no idea how hard it was to resist that fresh bread that everyone else was eating.

However, here in West Texas we have some big a$$ corn fed boys
... Even as big as I am I was easily the smallest guy in the section of the restaurant we were sitting by far. I saw some of those guys sitting at other tables eating 8 - 10 peaces of bread slathered in butter.

My only thought was... "I never want to be that big! and I began to wonder could bread have something to do with their size?"

Couple days later a man with a pink shirt and running shoes is at his door with a shirt that says "If I can catch you, your ass is mine" He losses 60 pounds that week..........
haha I was just thinking about posting it too!
thanks for the credit!

Jeeptales keep up the good work!
I would recommend staying off the "diet soda" -go with water and OJ instead!
