The much anticipated paper Jeep...

OK gang,

Well, I did it. I jumped head first into another project. This time its a scratch-built 1:25 scale 1987 Jeep YJ.
I plan to build this up the way I want the sarge to look with tube fenders, body armor, winch, decent lift with 33's and heavy gauge bumpers...

Here's what I got so far:

That's just crazy... I once did a wooden ship (USS Constitution). Took me three months, 16 hrs./day. Best therapy I ever had.

Nice work CCAIN!!!

Well... Some things are hard to make outta paper. This was the only way at this scale I could illustrate the hump on the floor.

It's greatly exaggerated but, once the interior is in place it wont be as noticeable.

I remain absolutely amazed with your talent for building these models Cain. I still find it hard to believe you can build these things with just paper, glue, and paint. The businessman side of me can't help but think that there has to be money in it somewhere, maybe you could freelance for a museum or something. But on the other hand, I can appreciate it for the art form that it truly is.

Just one question: What happened to the tube fenders? Or are you building a "before and after" set and this one is the "before"?

Thank you! You're too kind, I just stick these things together and tiny has a devil of a time keeping me from eating the paste.

As for the tube fenders... Well, I was going to but I liked the look of the rounded fender fronts. When I was putting it together, the fenders without the fronts made the grille look daft to me.

your building that pretty quickly. Kodo's on your talent again.

How did you make the radiator support rods out of paper? I assume it's all brittle. My clumbsy hands probally couldn't handle the models without mangling them.

You have some steady hands bud.
