the pissy looks i get......

Ok, I am a family of four, My wife and my two lil boys the oldest is three and a half and the other is two.
They all LOVE the Jeep! ( 06 TJ ) now that summer is here we've been stripping off the doors and top. Obviously the boys are young so they are in car seats in the back.
I've noticed when we're driving around town we get scowling glares from people from other cars like we're endangering our children! !!! I even had someone yell out there window "not my kids" Has anybody else who has kids come across this same thing? Btw we're talking O.C.Ca.

I have had thumbs up from other drivers when I have my step girls in the back seat. A lot of waves and even just smiles. Never the pissy look. Sorry to hear you have to deal with that. Maybe the other drivers are just upset that they are not driving a vehicle as cool as you are.

Lucky for you, you only have 2 doors to take off. I have a 2010 JKU and if my kids are riding, I have to leave the back 2 doors on. Looks like I'm driving a stage coach.

Some people just don't get it, but they are the ones that think they are rolling over when they hit a curb

Those are probably the same people who don't let there kids do anything other than watch tv and play video games because they are worried they will get hurt. If it wasn't safe to have your kids in the back properly buckeled in it would say so in the owners manual. My kids love climbing up the back tire and into their seats.

Those are the "self proclaimed protectors of our society". You have to do what they do, say what they say, think what they think, etc, etc. To do anything else would be out of the norm that their "little minds" try to live in. They usually are the first to complain when you say or do something unacceptable that rocks their little boat. You don't want to tell them this tho, because then they get real busy just trying to show you just how wrong you are in what you are saying or doing. They are so far in denial they wouldn't admit to the truth if the Almighty himself told it to them.

My kids (5 year old girl and 7 year old boy) beg me to take the jeep places when the top and doors are off. I have yet to have anybody give me bad looks. Not that I really care what other people think.

I do get the occasional hotty that will pull up next to us and smile and wave with her friends, but that's because my boys are flirting with them unfortunately they never notice the driver lol

I get a few dirty looks when I have the bikini top on and the doors off here in florida but mostly thumbs up and waves. My kids are 4 and 6 and they love riding in the back seat and going to the "Jeep Playground" My daughter (4yr old) said to me the other day "Daddy, when will you take these windows (rear soft top) off they look stupid and I love nature" Me: "when it stops raining, unless you want nature all over your head"

Kids are great!

Well I get that look all the time. We have the JKU and his doors are off. We only have the one (unfortunately ) and he is in the middle. I love the looks the old ladies give you.

I don't have any kids, but I do get some stares like my head is on fire when I'm riding doors off. I'm guessing people are thinking "Wow, you can do that?!?"

I think I found your problem. California isn't happy unless it's telling the rest of the country what to do, let alone someone in their own state.

My advice, move to America and enjoy your new found freedom

I know what you mean. When I run doorless, there's a lot of meat gazing going on. Perhaps I should start wearing pants....

Same problem here... we've got a 7-year-old & a 7-month-old. I'll let my daughter (the older one) ride in the front sometimes if I've got the doors off & have even taken her on a few trails with me. However, I keep the rear doors on b/c of the baby.

...besides, it's better to be riding around in 'Stage Coach' than a minivan

^^^I've got the Stage Coach look as well^^^.

I have 3 daughters, ages 10, 6 and 2. The 2 year old is in the middle in her car seat, but I just can't trust my 6 year old without the rear doors on. But they beg me all the time to take them off. Perhaps I should spring from some half doors for the rear???

If only those disapproving people saw our family when I was young. Family of 6, mom, dad, me and 3 brothers. 3 brothers walking age, one toddler. All in a 1960 Triumph TR3a sports car. No seatbelts. Toddler in mom's lap in the front. Dad driving, other three in small backseat.

I lived in laguna for a couple of months, people in oc are eccentric. I wouldn't worry about it. My daughter has been jeeping since she was 4 and she loves it. Only danger compared to a car is that she could get rained on. Have you ever wheeled big bear? Also, the ortega has to be a beast in a jeep.

Ive a 14 month old girl and a 7 yo. They love riding in the nekkid jeep. Granted I don't go down the hiway with the youngest for fear it'll be too much wind on her. But I do take her all around town. She waves at everyone and thinks it's fun

There are a lot of jeeps in this area and I don't get weird looks when I drive w/o doors and the top down...it's a common thing around here. I don't have kids, but plan on taking my niece for a ride...w/o doors and top...

A lot of people have 4wd vehicles, lifted trucks, jeeps, etc. So everyone around here is use to seeing all kinds of things I guess.

Besides...I watch the road and other people's driving more than I watch them...

I went to big bear a couple of weeks ago up at Jacoby trail, this weekend we're going back up to northshore to camp with family and go wheeling around there in that area.
When you say Ortega, are you talking about skyline Dr? Cause that's a neat lil run to! If your ever down and want to run let me know it will be great to ride in a group!

Try this. If you get a dirty look, put the kid in your lap and let him drive!
