But what if they were killed, say rick shot someone. Would they turn or not?

Yes, in season 2 episode 12 Shane broke Randall's neck, he turned, and then Rick stabbed and killed Shane, then he turned. At the CDC brenner said they were all infected and turn when they die

Think of it as a Komodo dragon or snake bite without venom. Their mouths are so riddled with bacteria that you become sick. When someone dies they tend to release all fluids which contain bacteria, viruses and other infections that the white blood cells tend to fend off naturally. Therefore the Walkers have all kinds of nasty stuff.

The thing that I don't understand is if they cut their heads off or have severe brain trauma, they die again. How do they turn in the first place when they die since there is no oxygen going to the brain, therefore, dying?

If they are all infected it isn't logical that a bite would turn them, unless as said they died from the bite. With dead flesh biting you, septic infection would be a very serious probability but would still take days in most cases. If they weren't infected the fever makes sense, but if they are that doesn't either.
It's hard to keep up. Lol. I still say good for Carl haha.

I think because its hershal magically he isn't going to change, cuz they need him. I honestly don't understand why they didn't stab the zombie on the floor 'just to be safe' it's not like there's a limit of times you can stab someone with a knife.

And why did he cross over it anyway? The hall way was wide as hell. Rookie mistake.

Why take the doctor on a dangerous mission? I'd have taken Carl with and had Hershel stay with the women folk.

I was addressing the comment that no one had turned who hadn't been bitten or scratched. I am agreeing with you. Backing up the point that a bite or scratch doesn't necessarily automatically mean death. But then why amputate the leg?

My point. It's the wound not the zombie virus doing the killing.

The question is why didn't Hershel yell at rick and Randall to stop if he heard Maggie. That was stupid of him to not stop them when that's who they were looking for

I asked the same question. Lack of common sense I suppose.

As a resident of Atlanta, I can safely say it would not be hard to find AR's and AK's just going house to house. Some of my friends houses could re-arm them better than the sheriffs office did! They'd have to pull my Saiga-12 from my dead hands.

Invest in a Rugger 10/22 with a upgrade AR type package. .22 will kill a zombie with less recoil, are cheaper, smaller and easier to carry. Yes, I think about this WAY too much.

I agree on the 22, but we have 2 .22s a 243, 250, 17, 9mm, .45, three or four shotguns, 30-30, over and under, etc, and ammo for all. More guns than people where I live. I think everyone would just slaughter the zombies around here. It would take a huge herd moving in from a city or something to get most of the people.

Oh I forgot, crossbow, and re curves too! and lots of improve tools for killing, like harvesting scythe and bats and axes etc.

Been there! Every time WD goes off i think about prepping. Not saying it would happen, but it never hurts to be ready.

I agree on the 22. Ive got a .22lr thats a M1 replica, 17 round magazines that are easy to reload and you can carry thousands of rounds easily. I've also got my XD40 and Saiga for situations that call for more umph. I just need a 20 shot drum or two for the Saiga.

I've got a marlin 795. Looking at a bull pup kit. Then next I want that 10/22. LOOOOOOOOTS of upgrades for that. I really like theM.

.22 is probably the best weapon for a zombie attack not just because of the amount of ammunition you can carry but because its not that loud and it wouldn't draw that much attention and its very light. So you wont get gassed carrying it if you had to ruN.

I know what im gonna start now. Working on getting that 10/22

Look for a pre 2005 model, they have metal internals and the newer have plastic. Look into the Advanced Technology (ATI) Strikeforce stock;

http://www.amazon.com/ATI-Ruger-Stri.../dp/B0027178AU

Or the Archangel stock, which has more options in finish;

http://www.amazon.com/Archangel-Ruge.../dp/B005AXYJ1S

Those seem to be the most popular "modern sporting rifle" (because my rifles have never assaulted anyone) look.

I have a 1022 with the original walnut stock on it, I love it. My G/F has a Remington 597, a fantastic 22 that is wonderfully acurate and loads of fun to shoot. It is "full framed" for adult shooters. Dicks and Walmart carry both for jnder 250. I would like to say niether is my favorite, but I own the ruger. There is a reason for that. Shooters ridge makes 25rnd banana mags for the 597 that clip into pairs, one pointing up the other down, essentially giving a 50 rnd mag. They work very well. There are countless options for the 1022 in every aspect, from trigger uprgrades to barrels and stocks, some better than others, some worthless.

Fwiw, I also own a Mini 14 with the ATI stock, same as listed above but bigger, and I love it. LOVE it.

Also, .22, 9mm, .223/5.56, 30.06, and 12ga are the most common rounds in America, including police and Nat Gaurd armories as well as private collections. If zombie day is here, have a gun you are likely to find ammo for. The fewer different calibers you carry, the better you are on weight & funtionality. 9mm is the only real option to have both rifles (carbines) as well as pistols, although .40 and .45 are still very plentiful. The generally accepted zday carbine for shoestring budgets or people not interested in a 500$ gun is the Hi-Point 995. IMO, it is about the most fun 200$ can buy.

If ya didn't guess yet, I like guns.

The 995 is also much shorter, allowing for close quarters use more easily while remaining shoulder mounted. Subsonic rounds, they travel beneath the sound barrier to lessen noise, are readily available in 22 and 9mm. Used in conjunction with a silencer, these make so little noise you wouldnt here it in the next room, but usually fail to have enough force to cycle the next round into the chamber, assuming it is semi auto.

Attachment 169527

My 10/22 & 995 classic sligtly modified - the 995 target (current) models have all kinds of rails and accessories available. Thats a promag 15rnd mag in it.

Oh, and I was born in Northside Hospital, Atlanta GA. It is true. A locality now considered inside "Greater Atlanta", Kennesaw GA, has an ordinance that every household must pocess, maintain, and be profecient with a firearm. That is long before you get into the country - take Hershal for example. He hates guns, but owns them and still knows how to shoot. There is millions of rounds and thousand upon thousands of guns in the Great State of Georgia.
