The words "Mod" or "Modded" GRR!

When people use these words in forums, it makes me want to punch a baby. Is it a new generation thing? Am I getting that old??

I just think it's an Internet-generation thing; words get shortened when having to type out conversations. Acronyms are used MUCH more now, too. Then it becomes second nature, and the abbreviated word (or appropriate acronym) takes the place of the actual word. Doesn't bother me though.

i'm deeply confused... what word or words would you prefer? modified, adjusted, amended, altered, rearranged, newly installed?

i doubt you're getting old... it's just these commodore 64s don't keep up like they used to!

It's a shame such a simple rant can confuse you in such a way.

I dunno, it just seems to me that its the fast and furious generation (not the one where Obama gave weapons to the cartels ) uses this word for their ricers and it's migrated over to the Jeep world.

It's the word, not the act of, that bothers me...Just the word.....Oh well, I have many pet peeves I've learned to live with. This has been, and will be another.

These Mods have nothing to say about mods, or your opinion of mods ^. Modestly I must most honestly say that performing modifications is quite enjoyable. I also enjoy fab. Fabbing things is very fun. I think that fabrication is way better than modifying, although fabbing is a type of modding. My favorite is wheeling, I like to wheel, so I have to say that wheelification is awesome.

I love words, and the fact that the English language consists of so many adopted slang words that people forget half the things that come out of our mouths weren't words 100 years ago.

Meds. I thought we were talking about mods. Can you mod some meds to use to med a mod in order to mod him or her?

I think if you look back in history you'll find that shortening words is a lot more common than you might think. I've heard more than a few baby boomers use the word "fab" or "fabbing" in place for fabricating, how is that any different from someone using "mod" or "modding" in place for "modifying"?

In summary, blame it on baby boomers. They are the most terrible generation to ever destroy this planet. GenX and GenY are tied for second worst.

Don't feel too bad. I ride a KLR 650. On the KLR forums mods are called "farkles" farkles? seriously? sounds like something you blame the dog for...
