I hear you... they do suck. I don't believe they sell the old style ones (with the breather on the backside) anywhere anymore. I know I checked all over about a year ago and couldn't find any. They suck...

I haven't heard my husband swear so much as when he filled the jeep on a run with the new spout. The thing leaked everywhere.
My advice is to check out garage sales, I found two old style spouts for him. My dad cleaned them and I wrapped them for Christmas
I found a couple on eBay but they would t ship to calif. such a joke!

Try filling up a motorcycle with one. Dumped a bunch of gas all over the bike and the garage floor.

They're horrible. Whoever designed it clearly never even tried to use it. The leak everywhere, gas shoots out in all directions coming out of the nozzle, and the one I had took both hands to work the nozzle, leaving me with no hands to pick it up with

They are a pretty epic fail all around.

It is hard to see how they are more environmentally friendly when there is gas spilled all over when you use these things.

They do hold in vapors though if that is what they are supposed to do. I have multiple 5 gallon plastic gas containers. They are kept in a large ventilated area. Only one is the new pain in the a$$ type. It gets warm in there during the day. The old type containers build a little pressure, puff up a little and bleed off the excess. When it cools at night they go back to normal size. The new container puffs up huge. Then by morning when it is completely cooled it is all shrunk and bent in. I can already see stress cracks where the plastic bends. Pain in the a$$ to pour. I only get 4 gallons in the tanks and the other gallon is on the ground.

Couldnt agree more, cant see how pouring gas all over the place is better for the environment. I took a long drillbit and drilled straight down the spout. Not great but much less messy.

We use the eagle cans at work and they spill gas all over the place. Not a fan.

Same at my job but I got used to it. Mine have yellow funnels attached, just don't tilt 'em too much and you're good.

I guess I'm just used to them. I do find you have to squeeze the cap to vent them before pouring. Found that out the hard way.

This is pretty funny. On this week's episode of Bering Sea Gold there was a Captain severely cursing the Federal F-ing Government for the g-dam gas cans that he can pizz faster than.

Another brilliant idea our .gov has foisted upon us. It gets better. There are municipalities that have passed ordinances forbidding the storage of gas cans in a garage. You have to have a separate building to keep them in.
