Top 5 reasons it sucks to have a teen in the house.

5. Hormones
4. He has his "first love"
3. More Hormones
2. Attitude
1. Raging hormones causing him to have a bad attitude causing him to be grounded from his "first love"

For those that have been through it... I don't know how you did it without killing 'em... but I salute you.

...I need a hug, a drink, and a BIG FAT marijuana cigarette.

It's been World War friggin' 3 since I got home.

Hah! My son is almost 18 he's in his senior year, He's really mellow, always does his chores, calls when he's going to be late or changes his plans........................................... I told my wife one of these days were going to get a phone call from the sherriff that they picked him up drunk with a bunch of hookers.

My daughter on the other hand was the rebellious one. I don't want to talk about it.

My daughter is a senior, 17, and......posessed! I feel your pain brother, but be glad your teen is a male, it can be worse. it's amazing how many arguments can start with the word "NO". But, 5 1/2 months of school left and 45 days and she is off to basic training. yeah! Hang in there.

Just wait he'll turn gothic like I did and grow his hair out and dye it black.

Otherwise I was pretty good for my mom...that she knew of.

Oh yea, forgot about the goth. My daughter went through it, ended about the beginning of the 11th grade. Her cousin a year ahead stayed goth until she graduated, then married some punk, lost her 17.00 per hour job, got pregnant, dumped dipshit husband and now lives with her mom. Her little sister (freshman year) is on the same road.
I was such a good boy when I was in high school, I don't understand why kids have such issues.

My daughter is not even a teen yet and I know what you mean. She's 10 and acts like a 15yo. I swear, if we both make it until she's out of the house, it'll be a miracle.

My son, on the other hand, is 6. He's sweet and still young enough to think Mom and Dad know everything and he's not embarrassed to be seen with Mom in public. He even holds my hand sometimes.

Cherish the moments!

02, just click your boot-heels together and tell yourself "four more years, four more years..." (when he gets that glazed, hatefull look in his eye, when your are, gently, chastizing him, put him through the sheet rock wall! You will be amazed how quickly the concienceness comes back! Then, make him go with you to Home Depot and buy the stuff to repair the hole in the wall, teach him how to do it....worked wonders for me! (I saved that part for when he out-weighed me, by about 40 lbs...)

Got me an 18 year old and a 10 year old. The 18 year old almost didn't make it out alive. It does get better Prove, but you got years of shit to wade through.

I haven't had a teen in the house since I was 28..... But that's just cause I was dating an 18 year old.

32 and no kids. By the time I have teenage kids of my own, I'll be senile and old and it won't matter.

Not sure about that yet... He's my stepson and I have no back-up as far as the mom goes. I'm seriously considering other options at this point... and have been for a bit.

This sucks...

that brings back memories of me last year, age 17, a week after i got my liscense. i think iv been easy on my parents. iv only gotten arested 2 times, that time and a pdp charge. first one i got off with a $25 fine. second was around $300 and a night in jouvi.... i calmed down after that.

and about the under the bed thing, i had all that and more....just alcohol, but there was ALLLLOOOTTT of it. i also had a mini fridge that i drilled a padlock onto that was allways stocked. my mom never even asked me about it. she just thought i didnt want anyone eating my food.

When I was 18 I had a stepmom who was evel, does that count too? She tried to make me look bad to my dad and after about a year, he kicked her sorry ass to the curb.

I have a stepson but he is grown and married. Didn't live with us though. Hang tough bud, you'll make. You have all of us here to keep you motivated.

Man, I don't know if I should feel motivated that I don't have girls, or just be afraid, as my 2 boys are only 2 and 3 right now and are already showing a bit of a rebellious streak!

Prove - You need to be "there" for your kids when they are going through this stuff. Hormones and girls can be a tough ride. Let him know you care and explain to him what you went through and how it's normal. Kids can make stupid - rash decisions during these years. The last thing you want is to see your kid kill himself over something stupid. Suicide is the "in thing" today and the music they are listening to glamourizes it.

Talk to him, reassure him, but most of all listen to him. You need to more than a father, you need to be a friend. This is a very confusing time for boys. They are changing to men and they do not know how or what to do. This is teir time to challenge your position in the family. The physical challenges need to be channeled into something positive rather than the Friday night brawl in the front yard.

Good luck.

This tread is awesome.
I have a son who is 8 and a daughter who is 6. I can tell already that my son is going to be a good kid, he is really really smart and is constently reading or trying to figure out how stuff works.

My daughter on the other hand...I can tell this is going to be the one that I get the phone call from at 3:00 a.m. asking for $500 and a ride home...

I have two savings accounts set up, one for my son and one for my daughter. In my online account I can change the names of the accounts...my sons account is called College fund, my daughters renamed BAIL MONEY.

And I feel for the guy that has 5 daughters...and twins at that....damn dude, I bow before thee...
