Ok I'm sure this has been asked before but what's the difference between a tow strap and a recovery strap ?

a tow strap is just that, a strap for towing. a recovery strap will stretch and have some give to it. the idea being that when one vehicle pulls another one with a recovery strap that it gives a little and has less chance or breaking and causing damage to either vehicle. you dont have that hard jerk with a recovery strap like you do with a tow strap.

Cool thanks I'm used to using chain and thought a strap would be safer and easier to use and chains do not like to be jerked on they tend to go PING right before they destroy S@$&

Even worse to tow with a recovery strap.
