tracking the "recovery"...

A little transparency in the government is a good thing, but will they be honest and not manipulate the information so the populous is still left in the dark as to what is really happening with their grand children's money.

81 Billion for "Protecting the Vulnerable".... WTF does that mean. These guys sure are good at packaging stuff. It means 81 Billion for people who don't pay taxes, never have, never will, and like to ride on my back. Heaven forbid the 30 year old guy who is getting Social Security money because he's a drug addict and is claiming he's disabled from it has to work like the rest of us. Maybe WIC for illegal aliens. Who knows.....just keep spending it....we can just grow more!

I keep thinking about standing in line with my dad at the gas station because there was no gas and listening to him talk about out of control inflation. That was under Pres. Carter in the 70's. Are we headed back?

I don't think Obama is off to such a great start. The last Dem we had gave us a record high surplus... this one just spent almost double.

Sort of ironic they have it set up in bubbles isn't it?

But, I do know that part of that "protecting the vulnerable" is 1B for the VA.

Quote:
Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Steve Buyer of Indiana, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, issued the following statement after the final text of the economic stimulus package was unveiled last night.

“Of the numerous flaws in the large economic recovery spending bill, none is more shameful than the obvious disregard it holds for veterans,” Buyer said. “I find it appalling that this bill provides access to $2 billion for ACORN, $30 million for the salt-marsh harvest mouse in the San Francisco Bay area, and millions to purchase ‘green’ golf carts, instead of bettering the lives of veterans. I hope everyone will pause to consider that those who have put their lives on the line to defend our right to vote are a lower priority than an organization like ACORN, which has been accused of unlawful voter registration. I don’t know of a starker example of the Democrats’ misplaced priorities.”

“While pleased my request for $1 billion was adopted to accelerate construction projects in the Veterans’ Health Administration, I am disappointed my proposals to add $1 billion for VA loan guarantees to veteran-owned small businesses, $357 million to increase training and job placement, and $10 million for homeless women veterans and veterans with children was not included. These proposals would have helped veterans and our economy. It appears the Democrat leadership was more interested in special projects than pro-growth economic policies that create and sustain jobs. These are distinct policy differences for which our economy will suffer, and Americans will pay the price.”

“I also do not understand how more than $100 million for non-citizen, non-resident, Filipino Veterans of World War II will help stimulate the U.S. economy. I hope Americans will stop to ponder the distorted values of those who crafted this bill.”

so the american car dealers need to sell cars....in the plan was gonna be to make the interest on car loans detuctible again. that would help people buy new cars (which gm, ford and chrysler desperately need)...well that idea got replaced by a train being built from L.A. to las vegas called the "sin train" costing something like 7 billion dollars.

nancy palocy (or however you spell it) got her feild mouse protected for what like 20 mill?

i had to laugh cuz all day yesterday they talked about this on talk radio, and kept playing campaign quotes from obama saying i will eliminate all the pork spending to get things done, government will be transparant and so on.

No sure about "detuctible", but yes the interest IS deductible on new car purchases up to a $49k car.

if you're gonna correct my grammar try not to make mistakes while doing it. i'm "no" sure about what you said. i didn't hear interest being deductible on car loans coming back, i heard it was proposed and defeated.
