Turkey day

Ok so this is the thread where you can post your turkey day traditions and what your doing for the day of thanks.

I have some of my family from california up so were going to be spending the day at my parents eating. on other years we usually grab a few movies and a cooler of beer until dinner is ready, however this year my uncle is in town who doesn't drink and is very very against it...so durring the day sometime I'm goin house hoppin with some friends. But on sunday...I got a wheelin trip planned with a very small group lookin forward to that!

My tradition is to work and i've been doing that for the past ten years. This will be my last one though. I'll have a new job next year.

this year. The night before w/my mom. For Thanksgiving this year from the house, drive a hour south for dad's, drive home, check on the dog, then drive a hour north to the GF's mom's. Then her dad's side after that. then another hour back home.

Pretty normal thanksgiving.

this one is gonna be rough for me. my Granny died a couple months back, and the holidays was always a big deal around her house.
now you cant get all the aunt, uncles and cousins in the same room without someone trying to kill someone.

If I were still single I'd come up with some doozies.

...just can't have fun anymore without some nagging ass woman sitting somewhere pouting because she has no sense of humor.

...but that a whole 'nother story.

Road trip.

Alabama to see the parents for a couple of days, then to Kentucky to see our daughter. I'll be piled up watching football and stuffing my face while the little woman spends my dough at all the sales.

We usually go home (TX) for the week between Christmas and New Year, but can't this year because of work.

So we thought we'd try to get there for Thanksgiving.....anyone ever fly at this time? I'll let you know our adventure....I know we have tickets, but not sure if we have seats.

Can't wait to have Momma's cook'n

Our dinner is directly proportional(sp) to how we make out at the animal shelter. j/k

Traditional here all the way. Turkey and ham, southern mac and cheese, not that box crap. All the rest of the traditional stuff. About 15 to 20 relatives and a few non-relatives. And after the nap, football.

Got a Tee Time for 11:10 Thursday morning. A buddy and I have played golf on Thanksgiving all 7 years I've lived out here. Then it's either over to a friends house that is making dinner for all us transients or getting stuck going to my buddy's in-law's because they called me out on it in front of everyone.

pretty much all the family (except the ones in NC and TX) will get to the house tomorrow (both sides of the family) we'll get up EARLY thursday mornin. all the guys will head to the woods, do some deer huntin. get home about 11:45, hopefull gut, skin, and process a few deer. the whole time we're out huntin the women will be gettin all the food ready. baked turkey, baked ham, deep fried turkey, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, potato salad, deviled eggs, just to name a few of the goodies we'll gather in the den about 1, join hands and give thanks for the food and the family, and pray for my cousin in afghanistan, along with the rest of the soldiers. then pig out. women will probably sit in the dining room and catch up on random things, talk about recipies and what not, and all the guys will sit in front of the TV, watch some football. and i'll probably treat the guys to a coon hunt, most of em have never been before.

That sounds like a hell of a time. I wish my family would do something other than eat and hit the damn couch.

Dis and the rest of the gang who are serving and have served, I'm sure people tell you all the time...but thank you for your service to our country, you guys have some dedication. while the rest of us are stuffing our faces with family and friends at home ya'll are protecting us. I just wanted to say thank you for everything you give up for all of us, without you all we wouldn't have what we do.

Where, or what, is Spiecher Iraq? I was on the USS Saratoga, the ship that lost a pilot named Speicher, is there some connection I haven't heard about?
