I'm good. I'll probably not be here over the weekend since I'm sure I won't have any power until Monday or so.

We have so many crews (fire/rescue, power, police, etc.) here from neighboring towns that I think we're good! Thanks though!

Geeze! Glad you're okay! That's some crazy damage! That same storm hit the town next to my cousin in Missouri. She slept through it and woke up to find trees down all over the yards as well as her grill mangled about 100 ft away from the house. Pretty sure her town caught the remnants of the tornado that hit Lebanon, MO.

I've been following the weather systems lately...watch yourselves tomorrow. The big stormchasers are talking "significant severe weather outbreak"...Storm Prediction Center is showing a moderate risk of severe weather throughout and north of the same area that storm system hit. And this one is going to be significantly worse than the last one due to the wind shear and instability being higher...it's also EXTREMELY rare to see these types of values this time of year.

To put it into perspective...Reed Timmer, one the most famous stormchasers in the country rescheduled his flight into St. Louis tomorrow to ensure he was there in time to get out chasing the storms because they're looking to be CRAZY.

As a chaser, I'm looking forward to it...but something about this system is giving me a really bad feeling. Just one of those feelings like something may hit really close to home. Hopefully it's just me being anxious that the chase season is beginning early...but just in case, I'm trying my best to stay on top of the weather so if something hits here, I can make sure my friends are safe.

Keep an eye on the weather buddy...there's a good chance of us getting slammed tomorrow afternoon.

If you ever need to know about something weather-related in the Dayton area, feel free to shoot me a PM...if there's bad weather in the area, I'm usually on top of it.

Prayers are always a welcome thing MJ! As for me, I won't be here this weekend to experience any more storms in So. Illinois! I will be flying out tonight back to St Louis where I'll at least have a basement to cower in!

I do appreciate all the offers for help but last I heard you will not be let in without ID proving you live there or are carrying an open work order and so on. Best thing is to follow suit with MJ and just offer prayers. My house is being taken care of by my landlord so I have no worries!

Again, many thanks from my Wrangler Family, you guys and gals are the best!

Spent a couple hours in the basement of my work today for a tornado warning in Cape Girardeau. Heard there was another tornado right across the river. Everyone still there on that side? I don't see any damage immediately around SEMO, but we had some nice-sized hail for 15 minutes or so.

I believe that cell is the one that produced the storm that tore up West Liberty, KY.

I was out chasing yesterday when the storms came through...I was in Cincy when they hit there and chased around northern Kentucky for a bit, but we missed most of the action by the time we got down there. We ended up heading over to Marysville, IN to offer our services to help with search and rescue if they hadn't set up a perimeter yet to shut out unauthorized personnel.

Due to getting caught behind an accident on I-71 in Kentucky which shut the interstate down for 3 hours, we didn't arrive in Marysville until 9pm and they'd suspended search and rescue operations until morning. They invited us back to help them out in the morning (and offered us dinner courtesy of Texas Roadhouse who donated meals to all search and rescue workers for the night--but we declined and told them to give that food to someone who deserved it more than we did), but since we were 225 miles from home, we were unable to return in the morning. We did spend half an hour at central command chatting with an EMT/volunteer firefighter...she showed us photos on her phone of the tornado hitting and told us her story of what she was doing when it hit and everything. It was really interesting to hear someone's experience straight from them. She was lucky and lives outside of town...the tornado took her barn and fences and some trees but the house was okay. We couldn't get into town because they'd blocked the roads off to all rescue personnel until morning but she said the town was pretty much leveled. A few buildings survived (their fire station only had a small window busted), but almost every house was gone.

We drove around the outskirts of town and took a few photos. The damage there was heartbreaking though...as a chaser I love seeing crazy weather, but it's really shifted the direction I want to go when it comes to chasing storms. I want to focus less on getting awesome footage and more on first response. Today I contacted our local chapter of the Red Cross and am going to work on getting involved with them so in the future, I can be authorized to enter most disaster areas when stuff hits and not be a hindrance in the process.

Here's some photos I took outside of Marysville...sorry for the poor quality, it was out in BFE, there was no power so nothing was lit up except some places had generators running, and my camera doesn't take night shots very well. I was just pointing and shooting and hoping the flash captured what I was wanting to capture.

Thanks for the update. Looks like the damage was pretty bad in areas.

Is that a Rough Green Snake or Smooth that you are holding? I'm from Ohio (Newark) and I have caught every species of snake in Ohio but a Smooth Green Snake.

The day after the tornado and the crews are all over it! The electricians had a new meter and weather head mounted and connected and my yard was already cleared by the crew the landlord sent in! While there they also covered the roof where it was damaged. When I got back from St Louis this morning there was power and it was toasty warm inside!

Cleaned up...

Sparky and his helper...

Friday morning up there in St Louis we had a couple of storms blow through with pea to quarter size hail and those are the storms that spawned tornadoes later in the day! And we still have spring to look forward to! Yippee!
