OII,
I heard you guys have new Dungarees, Girls on Board ( perhaps you are a girl ? ) and no Tomcats, or Intruders. I worked Avonics on 610, right atop the forward end of the Hangar Bay from 88-93 !!!

Wow shipmate you were on the TR when it was new! I left about a year before it went in for its nuke refueling.

They got new camouflage working uni's and dumped the dungarees after I retired. When I was there we mostly wore coveralls. I worked in Medical.

There were plenty of females on board, not sure when that started but likely mid-90's?! (I'm a guy.)

I was on the final deployment for the F-14. I have a picture somewhere of the last one being catted off when we came home from cruise. They still had the (loud a$$) A-6 when I left but I think it was being replaced by a F-18 variant.

Hey I was there when they had the very first Girl Crew of 50, around 1992 !!! It was a BIG DEAL !!! and OFF LIMITS unless Work Related, even separate tables in the Galley !!! No girls in our shop then, so I have no idea how it worked out, you tell me. We had the Noisy Intruders and Prowlers, solid bird, and I was onboard the day the Intruder "swallowed" the guy when getting ready for Catapult Launch, it was a Big Issue and a very scary thing to watch ( the guy survived and I actually had to go to one of the A-6`s to see "How in the Hell he survived" !!! Well, glad you are here !!!!

That video is on You Tube! It is scary!

I really don't know how he survived! They still talked about that when I was onboard.

Yeap, I went there to the fly deck next morning to see "How" he survived. Is not difficult to understand if you look inside the Intruder`s Turbine Intake cavity. Right before the engine first compressor blades, there is a structure with the shape of a propeller, like a multi blade propeller, which is mounted solid to the inside of the duct, and the lucky guy got stuck in there because he could not fit between the fixed blades which do not rotate, and that saved him !!! He lost his hearing I heard, and got really hurt, but survived just because he was swallowed by an Intruder, none of the other jets we had, have the fixed blades inside the intake duct. He made a big mistake we were told, the swallowed guy, was being trained, and he was supposed to hold the instructor in front of him by the belt ALL THE TIME, but as you can see in the video, he let go the instructor and when the instructor walked away for his correct set up of the landing gear, the new poor guy just stood up instead of walking low profile like he was supposed to, and shoop, he was taken by the hungry turbine !!!
