Unedited movies...

All I have to say is Thank you Encore HD channel!

I absolutely hate edited movies. Our government treats us like children because of a noisy few who can't be bothered to change a channel.
That is why I love Encore HD. They don't edit movies, and they are included in my cable package.
Having been stuck at home for a lot of this past 8 weeks due to my hands being crap, I have watched a lot of movies - mostly on Encore due to them not being edited.

Yeah, I know I could just do netflix etc. but why should I have to? You know?
If we could just do like a lot of other countries and just put up warnings before shows and after commercial breaks, and leave it up to us to make decisions I would be so happy. Australia is like that - they just have warnings saying "Hey, don't let your kids watch this..." and trust you to do the right thing.

Crazy, I know.

p.s. I'm watching Revenge of the Nerds on Encore right now

My favorite is when the character says something like "well Forget you!"
And the other says "hey - watch your mouth!"

Hundreds of years from now there will be anthropologists writing journal articles on why we thought "forget you" was such a horrible thing to say. Obviously, to American's from the early 21st century, being forgotten is the worst thing that could happen.

Sweet, now Porky's is on! Classic. One of those movies that is just ruined by tv editing usually.

My favorite was one where this guy kept saying motha lova! You could totally tell the lova came from somebody else! The communication company I work for has encore as a premium channel. It comes with Stars and The Movie Channel. If you don't pay for it you're stuck listening to motha lovas and oh shoot!

the FX network is notorious for editing movies. if you ever want a laugh, watch Snakes on a Plane on FX. best line ever "I'm tired of these monkey fighting snakes, on this monday to friday plane"

I'd rather have the option of sitting around with the family after a hard day and watching a little TV without having to worry about some filth put in just for shock value forcing me to switch channels or tell my kids to cover their eyes or ears.
If I want R or X rated crap, I'm an adult, I can afford to buy a DVD or subscribe to a channel that provides it.

^^ Pretty much why I watch the proper movies on the proper channels depending on who I'm watching with . Watching with the kids: picking a kid movie/show. Watching with the wife: picking whatever we want. My kids are 3 and 6 so it's easy enough for me. Most of the movies with junk in there for shock value aren't the genre I would allow them to watch anyway. We're watching Spongebob right now.

First off, no one said anything about putting x-rated movies on tv.
Second, movies should be shown as they were made. I'm not saying to put movies on at 5pm that aren't appropriate for that time, just that when I turn on the tv at 10:30 I shouldn't have to listen to a mutilated, half missing scene from a classic movie.

The problem is, a lot of the time people do not supervise their children, and just expect the government to do it for them. "Oh my god, my 8 year old set the basement on fire because he saw Beavis and Butthead do it! Ban the cartoon!"
I didn't even like that show, but even I know better than to let kids watch it.

I'm not saying this is what you do - but in a lot of cases, a little parental supervision goes a lot farther than trusting the government to do it for you.

And who do you suggest enforce the time slots and warnings?
Oh, I know, maybe the same people doing it now?
The government isn't treating us like children in this regard. They are simply enforcing societal standards. We as adults are perfectly free to obtain and watch whatever we like whenever we like.
I like things pretty much the way they are, If you'd rather have foul language and nudity on broadcast then get enough of your friends together that agree with you to outvote me and my friends. Otherwise subscribe to the pay channels and get DVD's like everybody else.

With basic cable hooked up to my LCd tv's tuner I pick up a Showtime channel called Extreme. They show a ton of crappy action movies during the day, but the other night they showed the newest Rambo movie that came out a year or two ago. WOW! Talk about gory! Blood and guts everywhere! Some scenes made me cringe, and I'm not one to look away at movies.
