Upgraded my firearm today..

We'll i got my 1st gun a little over a month ago.. It was a POS 380 that you could count on to jam up more than it shot... I had enough the last time at the range so I had a real good night at the Casino last night and decided to go out and pick up this little beauty.. Its a Walther P99 9mm that was made with Smith and Wesson.. saw it at the store and asked my friend about it.. After him saying its the Cadillac of 9mm's and a steal at the price it was at i Picked it up no questions asked.. Put 5 rounds through it and it shoots beautifully..

Nice pistol, are you going to conceal carry with it or just for home defense?

Here at my home I keep my 10 gauge loaded with buckshot.

Cadillac of 9mm's ???
And Some people think the "VW THING", was, is, and always will be, the
Cadillac of 4 Wheelers !
Both are just, opinions, never to be taken as purely facts. (jus sayen)
Never the less, Congrats on the up-grade. Hope it gives you many years
of Service.

I'm going to carry... Its a pretty light gun for what it is as well... it weighs less than my 380 and that thing is tiny..

In PA all you need is a clean record and $20 I'm waiting on mine in the mail.. you go to the sheriffs office and they put the paperwork through.. other states are different though..

All states are different, try to find a local gun forum and know the rules.

what on earth 380 did you have?

i have the ruger lcp, that thing is sweet. i upgraded to if from a keltec p32, the .32 round is so anemic, the .380 isn't whopping but seems to do leaps and bounds over .32.

even still, .380 is my backup and superhotweather carry. my primary is a .45.

congrats on the new piece!

I had a nearly identical gun... Kel-Tec P3AT. I hated that thing with a passion. I mean for "OH SH!T!" situations it was great...super easy to conceal, lightweight...you barely knew it was there, and for being such a small gun, it packed a nice punch. But it kicked like a mule for a .380...the trigger pull was super tight...it was uncomfortable (tore my hand up from jumping so hard)...and you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 15 yards. A lady working at the gun shop I talked to said she found it to be accurate to about 10 feet. lol

I traded it for a Glock 27 .40....great gun for conceal carry but a little bulky and kicked WAY hard when target shooting. I really was searching for a good multi-purpose gun....something that would stop most attackers (being that I live in a smaller town and I'm not law enforcement, a .380 would suffice for me at bare minimum IMO--if I were more likely to encounter someone hopped up on meth, I'd probably stick with a .40 or MAYBE a 9mm at minimum), comfortable to carry, and fun and accurate on the range. I found that very gun.

I sold the Glock 27 recently to a buddy of mine and picked up a Bersa Thunder .380...it's also very inexpensive. Set me back $300 + tax. It's very comfortable to carry, hasn't jammed at all, easy to disassemble for cleaning, very good quality, and very accurate at 15 yards. The recoil is also MUCH less than the Kel-Tec P3AT. It's a very comfortable recoil.

I love revolvers. Can't wait to get my CC. I probably wont end up with a 6 gun though. I'll probably get a Colt of some type. Maybe the revolver later on down the road.

Nice gun, congrats! Good call picking up a 9 over a 380 too. I know a lot of people carry 380's but i just dont trust them as much as a 9 with quality +p ammo.

That is the funniest thing I've read in a while. Five rounds...Really...Five rounds and you say it shoots beautifully. That gun might be OK for Barney Fife. Before you roll out the red carpet you should really decide to actually shoot it. Five rounds doesn't even qualify as a test firing.

Only thing I would consider to be shooting beautiful at 5 rounds would be a bazooka....haven't gone one of them in trade yet.

My goal on any new weapon is 200 rounds before I decide how it shoots and try at least 2 brands of ammo.

Good lookin pistil, those Walthers are nice guns. Good luck on your CC, I had to wait 89 days for mine but was well worth the wait and you will not regret it. Although my lady gives me crap for carrying it most places.

my plan is to become a cop, so maybe ill be able to carry before 21....if not ehhh 5 yrs aint that long.

My dream gun is a Schofield revolver......its a top break.......not very practical and I know that top breaks are structurally weaker than other revolvers (for obvious reasons) but still......

I am a Glock man. I have several of em. I cary the G23 .40. I love it. I have just recently been introduced to Sig's and they are starting to grow on me. I am addicted to guns in general. If I'm not buying something for my jeep, it's something for one of my many guns.

I carried a Glock 27 before I bought my Bersa Thunder .380...it kicked harder than my buddy's .44 special revolver and 1911. Ridiculous kick for a .40. I had a Taurus PT24/7 OSS .40 that shot really well though. Would like to take my roommate's Glock 22 out sometime and put a few rounds through it.

I'm trying to avoid saving up for an FN Five-SeveN...

Never been much of a Glock fan. They are black painted bricks. My LCR with two speed strips fits nicely in my front pocket, and it is light enough to carry when wearing shorts during the warmer months.

Haha X2. Fantastic, deppendable guns but they're ugly as all hell. I also do NOT like the finger grooves on the grip, they didnt line up with my fingers at all.

I ended up going with a bi-tone XDM. Better looking gun and VERY comfortable in my hand.

I will admit it. The "dependable" part had me considering a G19 and a G26 at one point, but the Gen 4 issues gave me cause to back off. I'm not saying Glock is any less dependable than the XDM or M&P, but I will say it is not more reliable either. With that being said, I really like the dimensions and sharp trigger of the SR9c.
