Lightbulb Urine test

This is from an email I received this morning:

Urine test

A friend of a friend of mine brought up this Interesting point:

"Like a lot of folks in this state I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, have no problem with helping people get back
on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ass. Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

Please pass this along if you agree or simply Delete if you don't.
Something has to change in this country and soon!!!!! "

Ah so we're adding the whole immigration debate to his political platform as well. Look at that, he'd solve welfare reform and immigration and all that's left would be the war!

Absolutely!!!!

Agreed, You should have to pass a urine test for assistance!

And it should also be MANDATORY to take an aptitude test prior to procreating....There are WAY too many morons in the world now! We should not allow them to spread their seed!

Lastly...Leagalize drugs and tax the crap out of em! Do this and the National debt would be paid off inside of 6 months.

If you commit a crime in order to fund your drug habit at that point.....Make violent crimes punishable by death within 48 hours. And make the executions public, in prime-time on EVERY network...

Thanks for all the votes but I can't take credit for writing that. That was in an email that my wife sent to me this morning.

I do think that whoever wrote it is DEAD ON though.

That sounds all well and good, but what happens to the kids of the people that can't pass the test? Do we just take their kids and put them in foster homes or let them starve to death? I would think that foster care for every drug addict would outweigh the cost of the welfare checks.

Also, I must say that I am no bleeding heart liberal, I'm actually a registered Republican. (I didn't vote for Bush though.)

Was just trying to play devil's advocate.

If they cant pass a piss test, than where is the welfare check money going to? Should you really be responsible for supporting someone who chooses not to support themselves? Somehow I doubt the cost of putting a child through adoption/foster care is more expensive than giving a welfare check to a single parent from 18 untill 60.

I am the same as you the BK. I am a registered Repub, but have .. I guess you could say, mixed party morals. I usually do lean on the helpfull side, but I have seen first hand what people in Baltimore and DC do to get welfare checks, and what they use them for. 85% of the time these people CAN work, they just dont because they dont have to, and instead just get high all day long, and usually steal for everything else they need (or work an easy job off the books for 2 incomes WHILE being high).

Edit: I should say for the record, that I also have 0 problem giving the shirt off my back to help someone who wants it, but I simply do not agree with whats being done with my tax money right now, atleast in the Baltimore/DC area.

Great idea, but UA's are very easy to pass unless they sit there and watch you go in the cup. Trust me on this, good 90% of the people I work with carry drop bottles in their lunch buckets with handwarmers just incase of a random.

Then your company needs to find another testing facility.
I don't think I'd be willing to work with people like that.

Wow, sometimes I forget about the bizarre "rights" that people have in the civilian world. Here in the Navy we have a pretty robust urinalysis program, and when you get selected to go you have little notice and have to drop what you are doing to go "provide", where from the moment you take your sample bottle to the moment it gets sealed and placed in the box you are constantly being observed. This is the logical solution since there is no other way to ensure the sample isn't tampered with, you can't just put people on the "honor system", if that worked you wouldn't need drug tests. If a company has a drug policy and makes submitting to tests a condition of employment than that should be how it is handled, any employee with objections is welcome to go seek work elsewhere.

The only problem I have, is the tests aren't thorough enough. They can't test for - idiot -.

Sometimes I wish we could hire a capable, responsible, pot head instead of some of the doofus's that come through my shop.

When I get popped on a random I have to drop everything and goto the conference room. The guy always makes us empty our pockets and never allows anything to be brought in with us. He doesn't stand over us but before the test he sterilizes/inspects/seals the bathroom. I have found that when a company allows sloppy randoms they usually know of a drug or alcohol problem.
One company I worked for as a Mech told us a week in advance when we were going to get popped. I wonder if it is still considered a random then.

About 2 years ago, I was a Project Engineer for a medium-sized (~$95 million/year revenue) construction company in Atlanta.

Our "random" drug screenings consisted of the HR girl going into the conference room with the boss men (Pres, 2 V.P.'s and the beancounter) of the company and drawing a name out of a hat. They would read the name, then look at his employment file, if they were unsure or if they knew the person wouldn't pass, they would draw another name.

That's not the end of it...One of my Project Managers got picked for a "random" and knew he wouldn't pass it, so he went into our V.P.'s office and told him. The V.P. just said "ok", called H.R. and said, "Just send Adam (me) this time, I know he'll pass it."

Rofl, some of the people I work with you could say are "Scum" but I deal with it because the money is good and im learning something that the average person will never experience.

Anyway I Wont be doing it for much longer, hopefully.

EDIT: our randoms usually consist of them pulling you out at break time, by your forman. Depending on who is lead safety man on the job site. They send you to the blue room, go in the cup, bring it back to the conex and the results on the cup will show up by the time you walk back to the office.

See, i thought that way too untill I actually knew some people on welfare. I was in a bad place in my life, basically an ex-best friend of mine (dude took all my cash and CCs and maxed them out while I was asleep and ran for months) came back to town and I went to make peice with him. Long story short, I stayed to help him and his GF and her family that he was living with to help out..being too nice I suppose.... During that 6 month period I met NUMEROUS people on welfare. As a matter of fact, I think myself and my ex friend were the only people NOT on welfare.. Anyway, I am sure this is not true for ALL people and I am being unfair to generalize, but 99.9% of the people that I met and had an extended experience with ALREADY threatened, stole, and sometimes murdered (yup..) for what they wanted along with their welfare check. Of course, this was Baltimore city folk, not trailer trash in the middle of no where, but these people had abseloutly no people stealing what they wanted to live off of and using their welfare checks for more crack/weed/pcp and what have you..

Besides, crime would only drop if you gave honest law abiding citizen the right to CCW freely..even if you made the non-honest lazy ones pee in a cup for our tax money....but thats another discussion

As much as i agree with you and i feel the same way i rather have that than give my tax money for a welfare check to some one that buys drugs, alcohol and guns and shoot at people such as police officers/firefighters/parametics or just regular civilians.

Great idea!!! perhaps at least the hair test!!!
