Wal Mart's latest scam

Went with a friend to Wally World - he had a dead Wal Mart battery.
A label on it said 72 month warranty.
It also said "2 Year Free Replacement."

They said they no longer honor the warranty if it's older than 2 years (24 months.) It was at 26 months.

They said they no longer pro-rate the remaining months!

My friend insisted they better do it or face a lawsuit (he's a lawyer.) He took down their names, letting them think they'll be named in the lawsuit.

After they discussed it with the manager they finally said they'd honor the warranty and prorate the balance of the time remaining.

All new batteries are only warranted for the 1 or 2 years on the label.

We all know they only last slightly over 2 years anyway.

I had a cart full of items - I left it sitting in the aisle - they can put it back!

When people realize they've been ripped off and quit buying at Wal Mart, the Chinese economy will fail.

Wal-Mart is the last place I shop. This only reinforces why.

As far as batteries and what you said, "All new batteries are only warranted for the 1 or 2 years on the label.

We all know they only last slightly over 2 years anyway."

I have to beg to differ. Just recently sold my 1996 Ford Ranger that still had the original battery in it and still started it up with no problem. The guy that bought it said he wasn't about to trust it and bought a new one. He told the person at the store where he bought new one and that person kept the battery so he could see how much longer it would last!

Now, as far as Walmart,

YUCK!!

Sounds more like it was a under paid, under educated worker, that walmart had in the auto dept. When in doubt get the manager, or store manager. Works wonders.

Just to add fuel to the fire....

Did you know, in Arizona, Wal-mart honors Citizens of Mexico who own a business, to purchase everything TAX FREE!!! Yup.... Own a hair or nail salon in Mexico? Come on in and we will waive the taxes on all items purchased for your hair or nail salon, and your dog food, and your kids toys, music CDs, DVDs, Big screen TVs, clothing, etc.

What a bunch of crap! I been to many corners of the world, and not one country could care less that I was an American. Who travels in to Mexico? Are you getting any special American Citizen discount?

All it is, is a money making scheme to lure in the folks from "Across the Border" and make more money. Tax is nothing to worry about if they are spending THEIR money in Wal-mart of America.

Do a Google search on the richest people in America. Besides that nerdy German who created Facebook, you will see four Waltons.

I don't know about the others but I used to work for Olin, who produces Winchester ammo, and what WalMart sells are to their own specs and inferior to what you get at a gun shop. They have such buying power that they were able to dictate the specs to Olin and on the first contract the "failed lots" that were warehoused awaiting recycling were brought back in and packaged to go to WalMart. I won't but ammo there because I figure if they can do it to Olin they do it to everyone.

Went my starter went up, I wasn't sure if it was the battery or not so I took it to walmart for their free testing. Even though the printout clearly showed that all of the tests passed, the "technician" said that the amps were pretty low and I should get a new one. I can't remember what those numbers were, but it was well within the range.

All big box stores do that and the are sneaky about it (lowes, home depot, and walmart are the worst offenders) . It happens all of the time with power tools and outdoor power equipment. They tell the manufacturer what price they are willing to pay for a piece of equipment and the manufacturer can make it as cheaply as possible or lose the sale. Making an inferior product with chinese labor is the way they accomplish it. I hate big box stores.

Exactly, and you will find that type of confusion any time a Company changes a policy. Tyrolia tried to dishonor a lifetime, yes lifetime, warranty on my ski bindings once. They didn't get away with it as I went up the chain of command and ended up with a much better pair of bindings than I started out with.

If there's a company out there that hasn't given customers a hassle at times, their employees are wearing wings.

As for Walmart bashing, I prefer their prices over most other stores and they stood behind a replacement warranty on a 40" LCD TV for me once. I took the TV back for replacement 4 times in less than two months for various issues. The 4th time it was on sale so I got a $100.00 off. This one is still working well after 4 years.

Pick a name out of a hat and bash it. Have fun. It's Christmas.

Olin has had QC problems but their .40 and 38 100 packs of FMJ plink OK for me.
I reload 12 and 20 Gauge and prefer Rem hulls. The WM Rem Sport Loads are identical to Rem Gun Clubs and will reload several times.

This is a great example of what Wal Mart does that people don't notice. Remington, Federal and Winchester sell ammo to Wal Mart and other large retailers that they will not sell to local gun shops(my self included). The manufacturers have to cut costs in packaging and manufacturing to meet the demands of Wal Mart. These changes are often the result of an inferior product. Then customers want to know why my prices are higher. I sell a better product that cost me more.

Wal Mart's business plan is legendary but it has ruined retail sales in the process.

My wife gets food ONLY from wal mart, theres no way in hell I'd buy anything else from there. Especially tools, parts and hardware, I like stuff made with quality, not the cheap junk.
Even stuff mad in China can have quality, just isn't sold at wal mart.

I get all my batteries from Autozone...instead of Duramax batteries I get the AutoZone battery for $50-75 less with the same warranty. They stand behind their products at our local store-my son wheels his built up cherokee pretty hard and has had many pieces fail...just brings them back for replacement...and has not YET had to replace his battery, I think it has to be 6 years old now? My rubicon is running their 'yellow' top I think, over five years now and really ran it down doing some winching a couple times and it charged right back up. Sears...not for me...their product lines are now overpriced and underquality since they got in bed with Kmart...

Well I personally buy a lot from Wal-Mart.

With regards to the original subject, I have Everstart MAXX batteries in my three vehicles. They have been rated well by Consumers Reports for a numbert of years. MAXX barreries have a 3 year replacement warranty. My Mustang is rarely driven now and the battery was toast. There were about 3 weeks left on the warranty according to the receipt. I took it back for a free replacement about a month ago, no issue.

When sprawl-mart employees tried to unionize to get better benifits, instead of allowing it to happen, corporate closed the store. it was cheaper than the law-suite from firing all of the employees... i hate wal-mart

Ya their food all comes from here locally, and the parts that they DO sell are basically form low rider import thump thump junk anyway
unless its tires at the super wal mart, and they don't even have anything with a tread pattern I'd consider for a wheel barrow let alone a Jeep
Also I don;t do the food shopping the wife does and all my meat I can tell ya when the time of death was cause I fill my freezer each year with a deer or two, that way I know theres no growth hormones or other junk in my food.

I'm doing a CHILI CHEESE Fritos taste test. So far, I can't tell the difference between the $2.99 bags and those that cost way less.

I lived where there was little competition and not many choices when it came to shopping for many years. I paid plenty to support the little guys. Now I have choices and thoroughly enjoy saving a buck or two when it suits me.
