Warrior/Mud Runs

Just curious who has done a Warrior Dash/Mud Run. I did one a few weeks ago in minnesota. Thought It'd be easy since I'm a former Marine but it kicked my rear and I think I finally felt the 32 years that I am

Don't do the mudder one that is a British special forces training course, that crap was hard, if you do the mudder one, take some friends, team work is the only way to get through it

The wife and I are doing the Fenway Park Spartan Race in November! I think it's going to be a lot of (painful) fun.

Warrior dash was fun, tough mudder... not so much. I wont do a tough mudder but my wife is doing her first one in Tampa in december. prolly first and last lol. 12 miles of ice cold water, thick mud, 10k volt shocking wires, and fire to name a few of the obsticles.

I told her the only way I will do a tough mudder is if I can take the Jeep through the course.

Did the Spartan Beast in SC a few weeks ago. 14 miles, 25+ obstacles. One of the hardest things I've ever done. Can't WAIT for the next one. My friend and I are going for the Spartan Trifecta next year - completing a Spartan Sprint (3.2 miles), Super (7-8 miles) and Beast (14 miles) during the course of 1 year.

Nice work! That 'slide for life' picture reminded me of marine corps boot camp.

Google Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, or Warrior Dash. Their sites should have schedules of where the upcoming races are. That should get you started.

Although these new runs go far beyond what the original mud run was, we can thank a bunch of California US Marines for starting the trend back in 1997.

I was going to ask that...when I did the mud run here it was so reminiscent of marine corps boot camp...only there were national guard peeps at the obstacles to make them less threatening

Volkslauf
The Volkslauf actually started before that. It used to be held on either MCAS Tustin or El Toro. I ran one in either 1991 or 1992 and that wasn't the initial one. One of those wing squadrons hosted it.

Im glad you remember that too... I thought I was getting old and senile. I was at Pendleton in 1991 and I recall hearing about one. When I looked it up, I was surprised to see they were listing 1997 as the first year.

Isn't it worth going just to see her get zapped by 10,000 volts?

Wife and I finished the Fenway Spartan Race! Perfect weather in a fantastic environment! Tough but so worth it to run through, over, under, across Fenway! (Pics later!)

I have done mud run and spartan. I'm doing a full marathon in March in Columbia, SC but after I plan to do a tough mudder. Mostly for the tattoo ha. There are even more extreme events out there such as youmaydie.com and several others. One in Canada and I forget name. Even tough mudder has levels to make harder. Their is option for a ruck and people who place can get invited for extreme tough mudder that is I believe in Oklahoma. I'm into the hard stuff but not quite that much. Tough mudder and marathon hit my limits ha.

A marathon is down the road for me. 10K in the spring and build from there. If all goes well, Marine Corps Marathon next fall. Spartan Fenway was described to me by one of the volunteers as, "a VERY long Crossfit workout." Which was perfect for running with my wife. No mud, no water on this one. (45 degrees at the start.) It was truly fun but not incredibly tough.

World's Toughest Mudder is going on this weekend in NJ.

24 hours, complete as many laps as possible!

A guy I used to train with qualified for WTM by finishing a regular TM in 4th place. I'll have to find out if he's there this weekend...
