I've swam with mine, and fixed it
have you tried the tricks like taking the battery out for a couple of days (and things like that)?

They probably do but it would be cheaper to just get a waterproof cell phone cover/case...

Smartphone + Hard case for rough areas.

Aquapac Waterproof Treo Case Review - Treonauts

Still waiting for something I can use with the new Pre

EDIT: There is also the Otter Box. That's an indestructible hard case for most smartphones, but I don't think they are waterproof.

Have you ever heard the term Ziplock? Works pretty good. If your phone does get wet, 1st rule do not turn it on!! remove the battery and stick it and your phone in a bowl of dry (uncooked) rice and leave it for 24 hours. Should be just fine.

leave it in your back pocket going to the can? My daughter (and appearantly a lot of teenagers) who carry their phones in their back pocket have a tendancy to drop them in the toilet. My daughter dropped two, both were free phones, third phone she bought. I dropped one in a glass of tea once, dried it out but it still wouldn't work for about a month then it came right back on...after I changed companies and phones.

The Sonim XP3 is about the toughest phone I have seen. Check out the youtube videos about it. I would attach some of the videos but I'm not smart enough.

Nope.... Verizon CDMA technology and T-mobile is GSM.... unless bound by contract, you may want to change providers.... Verizon does have a much larger footprint across the country and you can carry your number with you.

I use to repair cell phones for sprint for 2 years. The rice trick "works" the best but they are all tricks and the phone will fail to work eventually from the water. that being said there is no waterproof cell phone. the best you get is a phone like the GzOne from verizon. It meets a standard the military has called 810F which has to do with shock, dust and water resistancy. They will not be waterproof but if it falls in the water you should be be ok if you get it back out quickly. Other than that I would say look into one of the cases like JSC05Rubi suggested.

My Gzone has been thoroughly soaked a bunch of times. My brother in law threw his in my pool just to prove it works. This was over a year ago and it is still going.
