Wave!

I have a really big problem with other jeep owners who don't wave. I don't understand how some people can be so stuck up! I know a lot of you feel the same!So if you're on this forum and you don't wave, then let me wave firstY'all ain't know better than the rest of us and if your in S.C. and you don't wave be prepared

I've been getting the non-wave alot lately too. I think most folks just have no idea. However, you'd think they might be wondering why people are waving at them more now that they have a jeep. Guess they just assume they're very popular.

There's some guy that stands at the bus stop that waves to me when I drive by. I'm not sure if maybe his jeep is in the shop and it's just out of habit or what.

Well, reddirtdog, if your cruising through Summerville or Charleston and pass me you'll get a wave. But Most people around here don't wave and I've just about given up on them. I have gotten waves from new jk owners though. Jeep should make a brocure to put in new owner kits when they sell a jeep.

I think many people's first reaction is to figure out if they know you. Since most people don't wave unless they know someone. Sometimes they don't see you either. We don't take it personal tbh. It isn't realistic for everyone to know about the jeep wave.

I have found that to tbe the case as well. I have also found it to be odd that I mostly get a wave back from another YJ. The TJ and the new JK hardley ever and mostly never give a return wave. Maybe they are new jeep owners, but so am I. I remember my first jeep wave, I felt like I was in a secret sect or club or something. wife thinks I am silly waving at every jeep I see and only getting maybe 25% return. She is more suprised when they do wave back than if the do not. I know being a New Yawka may make it difficult to be friendly but we are way out of the city so it is country folk out here real friendly like.

If you don't get waved at you're not trying hard enough. You have to stick your whole arm up and flail about the inside of you Jeep. If that doesn't work stand up in the drivers seat and do the Forrest Gump wave.

how about this

This is for some of the older members, heres how we fix the wave,do you remember when they used to make the little hand that was on a spring mounted on a suction cup? If we had some we could just put them on the dash and wave awayI wish I could find one somewhere, maybe they should come with a new jeep as standard equipment

Nice jeep, except for that orange poop spot on the spare. . Once mine is paid off I want a 05 Rubicon Unlimited for my DD, then the yellow jeep will get a total body makeover.

I've been noticing a 3 out of 10 wave ratio. Now I wait for them to wave first. I waved to 1 Jeep one time, got no wave, but the Honda Accord in front of me waved in their rear view. I just laughed.

I'm suprised at the veiled hostility from my brother Jeepers at your perception of a non-returned wave as a personal insult. I would hope we'd see this as a golden opportunity to convert another into the flock. It is not prejudice, my friends, but ignorance. I jump at every chance to educate & bring another Jeeper into the fold.

....was getting money at the bank's walk up ATM today- spied a Jeep pulling in (my Jeep radar is always on) - walked right up to him in the parking lot (this can be tricky at times, but I've worked out my approach) - asked him about his Jeep......(gets 'em talking and less suspicous of me) - by the end of the conversation I'd given him a card and info about our local club and of course....WF's site address

I wave to all
.....and grin ear to ear when its returned

People in rural Arkansas wave at everybody. Jeep or no Jeep. But most of the jeepers that don't wave are in mall crawlers and for the most part are female.

This is my take on it. There are three types of Jeep owners that don't wave. Those that don't see the other Jeep, Those that don't know about the Jeep wave, and Those that are Elitists. The ones that don't see a Jeep or the wave is self explanitory. The ones that don't know or just haven't been recruited into our cult and educated is also self explanitory. The elitists are the Jeep owners that think they are better then the rest of us simple because of the mods installed on their rig or they think thay have to much class to wave at another person. I have had encounters with several of each of these catagories of non-wavers. The only one that got on my nerves was a kid (Late teens/early 20's) in a Nice rock crawler CJ. I admit I probably looked like a moron drueling while examining his rig. It was about a 79 golden eagle sitting on what looked like 38's with a Coil over suspension. I was right next to him and waved. He looked at me and smurked. Elitists are A-Holes.

I always wave. Don't always get a return return wave. Some drivers are just clueless or preoccupied.

I still remember when my wife (then my girlfriend) asked me "Do you know all those people?" the first time we went somewhere in my Jeep. I hadn't even been paying attention, and it took me a second to figure out what she was talking about. She thought (still thinks, but for different reasons now) that I was weird for waving to strangers while driving around town. She is starting to get used to it though, and even waves if/when she drives the Jeep when she has to!
