We got her good!

Woke up to some severe damage this morning.Everyone around me has either car or house damage. It rained so hard that I had water running around the door header coming into the house.Hy Vee wharehouse has a tractor trailer on its side.As soon as the insurance army is done taking pics, the chainsaws are gonna be buzzin. This was really bad this time.

Oh man, that sucks! Sorry about the damage, storms are a pain. Hope that isn't your HHR... or maybe I hope it is, and you can get something better next time...

It is mass chaos here.Thats my neighbors HHR,As soon as the insurance guys are done assessing the damage,we'll get her out of there.Every alley I tried to drive thru is blocked by poles down. There is so many people driving around gawking that they are starting to close the streets off.I have never seen it this bad.

Was it a tornado, or straight line winds? Both suck, we've had similar damage several times in the past several years...

Sirens went off about 1-1:30 this morning. Then the crap hit the fan.For years I've listen to talk about how we can never have a tornado here, cuz we are in a deep valley, river town.I love to storm chase, but stayed in doors last nite,I'll admit this one made me nervous.Haven't heard what we got for rain or if it was a tornado or not.Funny part-I went out to the garage to fire up Timex and found water on the floor.Crap.Got to looking around and discovered my fridge defrosted for me.Lost power for 5 hrs.

Reminds me of when the tornado ripped through Iowa City a few years back when I lived there. That's some scary and sad stuff.

Are there any looters? Do you have plenty of water? Washington will be sending you a camper and 100 people to tell you what to do but they won't be able to help. Some Hollywood actors are planing your relief benifit as we speak.

Oh wait sorry you live in Iowa and will take care of all yourself.

That was a nasty storm. I like a good storm once in a while but the force of this one is not anything I want to experience. You guys have your storms and we get the earthquakes.

Wow that looks bad and something like that would scare the heck out of me, I'm glad to read that at least it looks like you and your house made it through ok. I think I'll stay here in SOCAL where we only get the occasional earthquake.

When driving around in inclimate weather and disasters and stuff in the Jeep it feels like youd be the person everyone would want to help out. Especially if you have a winch and stuff you just wanna get out and start pulling cars! Good thing you were okay and everyone around was too. Scary stuff for sure!

Sounds like they are calling it a twister I guess. Many times I've looked at those weather alert radios and thought they were too expensive. Now they seem rather cheap compared to not having a clue whats going on when the lights go out. They are forecasting another severe storm tomorrow night. You Cali guys have Awnode to protect you from the end of days!We used to have John Wayne!

I trust the beer was rapidly consumed, only to save it from lack of refridgeration of course.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
We got hit it with 5"-8" of rain and lots of flooding in SE WI. I only got some water in the basement but in Milwaukee they have houses that had walls collapse from all the water pressure.
There is even a sink hole on the east side with an Escalade in it. Here is a link to the news article.
