Wedding Cakes

I need to go into the business of making these things. Just saw this wedding show on MTV the chick wanted a 8 foot wedding cake. Price? Over 15grand. FOR A CAKE!? lol

My wife used to bake a lot of cakes and I can tell you, an 8 foot cake has many challenges. Your talking about an 8 foot loaf of bread covered in heavy frosting. Now I'm not justifying 15k for a cake, but that is going to take a lot of hours to produce. Gonna take a lot of milk to wash that one down.

Yea, I can understand that. If I had to make one I might have to charge 15k for it.

Wedding cake's a waste of money.... as well as a wedding and all the trimmings. Bottle of rum and a trip to Vegas, that's the natural order of things.

That's more or less what we did. The Vegas wedding has held up just fine for 11 long damn years now.

It's better than wasting money on a stress filled day that will never ever live up to the expectations of a bride who's been planning it for months.

Did Elvis marry you two?

No. It was Dianna Ross.

I couldn't agree more! But we skipped the rum and went to The Hitchin' Post, in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. That was 11 years ago and... well, see my siggy (the part about marriage).

My daughter called me Friday and asked what I was doing Saturday night. I ended up going down to Pinnacle Mountain State Park and performing her wedding ceremony. We went to Capers in Little Rock for the "reception". Just me, my wife, daughter and new son-in-law. The wedding cake looked just like creme brulee. (because it was)

Congratulations, Dare.
So, does that mean you can marry people (minister or JOP) or you "gave her away"?

For our wedding we had a traditional tiered cake, but we also had a "Groom's Cake" (don't know why they call it that, I didn't get any!!! ) that looked like my Jeep. Doughnuts for tires, and everything. Was VERY cool!

The groom's cake is for showing you the future... you weren't getting any then and you aren't... well you know where I'm going with that.

Granted I'm not the sexy beast I was before the wedding... but the lack there of lately is just uncalled for.

I mean... I'm not THAT bad.
