Weird house stories

Anyone have any weird, unexplainable house stories to share?

I'll start.

I had my house built in 2003. Nobody lived here before and our entire neighborhood is the same age. All houses have at least an acre and we are in the pines of south Jersey. So we were here for about a year or so when this happened. It was a really rainy, cold wind gusty night in October or November of 04. I got up for work at 0500, showered and walked downstairs. I noticed the front door was WIDE open, rain coming into the front foyer area. OK, I figure maybe the deadbolt wasn't fully engaged and the door blew open at some point over the night. I go to close the front door and look outside real quick. On our front walkway my wife has a large cement angle on a large pedastil that looks towards the street (away from the house). It's two pieces keep in mind, the angel sits on the pedestil. Well the angel has somehow turned and is now facing the front door, peering into our house. The angel must weight 20 or 30 pounds or so, made of cement. I have no idea how it could have possibly turned, ON it's mount and perfectly be positioned to appear to look into the house and am still unclear how the front door was wide open. Still makes me shake my head to this day.

What do you all have?

I have one, although I already posted this in the Weird/Creepy/Strange Things Seen on the Trail thread.

This didn’t happen to me but a former boss related this experience to us. He’s the type who might kid around with people but he would always eventually tell you if he was making something up. He swore that it is true.

He said that when he and his wife moved into their first house it was an older home in a small community. One of the unusual things he first noticed was that his bedside alarm clock would shut the alarm off, causing him to sometimes be late for work. He would make sure that the alarm was set each night but it would occasionally still be off by morning. He says it would do this randomly and not often enough to motivate him to replace the clock. He said that moving the clock across the room, away from the bed, didn’t seem to matter.

One day as he was getting dressed he says he felt like there was someone else in the room. He turned quickly and for a millisecond he thought he saw a figure standing there in a long coat, the type worn in the Civil War era. After doing a little research he learned that the area where the house was located was near an old Civil War cemetery.

He said that other strange things would happen in the house such as items moved around while he and his wife were away. They agreed to not talk about them while they were home but that they would make a casual nod or glance over to whatever it was that was out of place to let the other person know.

One day, while he was home alone, he finally got fed up with it and could no longer keep quiet. He says he was in the bedroom and yelled out loud, “If you are real, prove it!”. He said that a big, heavy rocking chair in another room suddenly flipped over.

The strange events kept happening. He eventually said something like, “OK, I believe that you exist”. The events decreased after that but never completely stopped.

I would not have spent another night in there after the rocking chair incident.

For some reason, when the light is turned off, I see sort of a static mist next to my door-frame when I enter my room. Does it just about every time. I've gotten used to it because I figured it's my eye-sight, but I have perfect vision. Idk, doesn't happen anywhere else but that room.

While looking for a place to buy, we rented a +100yr old farm house. We loved it, except everyone agreed the upstairs was creepy. It was no big deal at first since no one was ever up there. One day my 3 yr old daughter came down the stairs and looked straight at me and said "I don't like that little girl upstairs anymore. She's mean!!!" I never made her go up there again .
As it turns out, I'm not a 'real' jeeper

Thats freaking creepy
1. used with an auxiliary verb or “be” to form the negative
2. used as a short substitute for a negative clause
"Not actually a backer of this thought"

I had bought a house across the street from where I lived. The owner had died from heart failure in his sleep. He was a good friend. I was fixing some sheetrock in the room where he died. The whole time I am working in there the door to the room stayed open. I went out to get some tools and when I came back in the door was closed. I stopped and thought back trying to remember if I had closed it. I had no reason to have. I went back to my house and told my wife. I asked her to go over to the house with me in case somebody went in when I was not looking and was maybe still in there. I had her stand out front as I went in to search just in case I ran into trouble she could call the police. I opened the closed door and peeked in. Nothing. Went through whole house did not find anything. I opened the front door and told my wife all clear and she went home. I went back to the room to work and the door was closed. I know I had left it open. Worked in the room for a couple of hours and the door stayed open. Finished up, cleaned up left the door open and went home. Checked the next day and the door was closed. I saw one of sons of the deceased owner and asked if his dad always closed his bedroom door. He said yes because him and his brothers always made a racket and the dad liked to take naps.

It ain't easy being cheesy:

Sometimes I make decisions like famous people.
George Armstrong Custer "lets go over that hill, I think those are friendly indians!"

Titanic's Captain Smith "What icebergs? Full speed ahead!"
