I just got home from my very last class in my Bachelor's program. I'm done! No more papers, No more essays, No more Monday night classes, No more spending my weekends doing homework. No more stressing about getting my work done. It's been about two years since I went back to school to finish my degree.... and now I'm freekin' done!
Now I'll have to figure out what to do with all this spare time..... Maybe get some real work done on my Jeep!
(Thanks to tiny and Cain for all of their encouragement along the way.)
Congratulations. Whats the title of your bachelors degree?

Stick with it.... It's a lot easier to do it at your age than it is when you're 48... And have a full time job..... And have a mortgage...... And have three kids in High School. 3 1/2 years will go fast! Good Luck!
I want to go back to school sooo bad. Congratulations on finishing. Every day I wake up and go to work, I feel like I am wasting my mind. I feel like I can be a LOT smarter than I am, and I feel like I am being really underused at work. It is funny, when I was in HS there were only 2 classes I every really cared about and tried real hard in. The rest of the time I felt bored and just wanted to get it over with. Same with trade school, there were a few classes I really liked and busted my balls in, but for the most part it felt like a waste of time. Now I love to learn. I read all the time, sit on the computer all evening after work and morning before work, researching anything and everything Heck, I even read my sisters school books for fun. Her MacoEconomics book was a joke..
I know its much easier to go to school when you are younger and only have a few bills and what not, but I don't know how some people do it. I have about 2 bucks left over at the end of the month after I pay my bills and put gas in the Jeep. I guess because I already have trade school loans it may be a little tougher than other people my age that go back to school. I wonder if you can even get financing right now to go back to school (assuming good credit, which I do).
I don't even know what to go back for anyway. I have always been really good with anything electric, especially computers, but I can't sit at a desk all day starting at code. That's why I went to school with Pengiun_in_a_cj and got into the Auto field.

tiny told me that she saw Brian the day after he posted this... He was driving up Rancho California Road in his Jeep. She told me his cranium looked massively larger like he was some kind of SUPER GENIUS or something... So Brian, planning to take over the world now? 'Going to enslave us all?
Congrats bro. I just finished my BA also. Since you live near by I was wondering if you are graduating from CSUSB too. Did you just take the paper and run or are you walking?
Congratulations to you too Joe! I got my degree from Azusa Pacific University. I'm walking next Saturday morning. I'm looking at CSUSB for a Master's in Public Administration degree. They are planning a cohort to start in January '10. It's either that or a Master's in Public Policy from UCR. I'm still trying to decide.
Unlimited, what are you going to do with your edumacation? What are your plans for your future?
Well, I currently work for the County of Riverside. I was a consultant for the county for 15 years prior to taking a job with them. Basically, I'm here for the retirement plan, so this will be my last employer before I retire (in 16 years). I'll retire at 65 with a pension of 75% of my highest annual salary. So I have 16 years to make it as high up the chain as possible.
Getting my Bachelor's degree will open some doors for me in the county that were otherwise locked. A master's will open even more and make jobs like department director easier to get. I'd also like to teach at the college level part time one of these days.
My main motivation for going back to school was actually very selfish, getting a Bachelor's degree was something I set out to do 30 years ago. I got my associate degree, but then life happened and I never finished school. I'm a very goal oriented person and failing to finish my degree is something that has followed me around like a black cloud for 25 years.
It's so funny to hear your story because it sounds just like mine. I got a A.S. from RCC a LONG time ago and then started my career. My first college class was in 1988. Needless to say, I had a big break before coming back to school 2 yrs ago to finish the B.A. I started 20 years prior. I was also looking at an M.P.A. or a M.C.J., but I'm a little burnt out and need a break. I walk this Saturday too. Good luck to you.
PS...If you work out of the building on Lemon St, I work arcoss the street from you.
