We desperately need an Olive Garden near Charlottesville VA, preferable north of town. I guarantee it would be one of the busiest in the country!

High priced babysitter. Aka. Safety And Health Consultant. I stand around and watch people work and try to make sure people go home the same way they came to work. There are other things involved in what I do But I do love what I do

Sarcasm? Didn't notice. It's rampant on this forum.
It's sort of the same. CNC just stands for computer numeric control. The machine I have pictured is CNC but I run two manual
machines and a wire EDM also. instead of a carbide insert that cuts through metal, the EDM uses electricity to burn through metal or erode it. We use graphite electrodes for the most part to burn into the part but almost anything can be used as long as it's conductive. A wire EDM is the most common, you would be surprised on how many things are [EDM'd] rather than traditional machined. It's way cheaper and can hold real tight tolerances if needed.

We for the most part remove damages airfoil vanes, a chopping electrode to remove the center of the vane. The final electrode is the same shape of the new vane going in. Once the vane is burned
out the part is deburred cleaned up and nickel plated. a new vane is installed and then brazed in.

YouTube actually has some vids on EDM, if you want to see one in action.

Exciting huh?

Well its a family owned business so I have been doing it for as long as I can remember. The money is great and I will never be afraid of losing my job because my son gets sick. Plus I will have mothers hours! I worked one summer and now I'm stuck. OH and we do no taping. Its all in the wrist.

Senior Manager IT Systems and Support for Waste Industries USA, Inc. It's amazing how high tech garbage can be... (plus we have an all you can eat buffet out back... lol). Actually I work in the corporate office. IT geeks are not allowed to get near all the dangerous equipment... you drop your pocket protector and you can be easily ran over!!

I had never heard of it before. I really thought you were trying to pull our chain, by stringing words together. I did google it after I responded.

Was I close on my description? Never tried to explain my job before.

Aircraft overhaul and repair would have been easier to say

I'm a Human Resources Generalist. I do a lot of different things, but mainly, I am involved in filling vacant positions (of which there are very few, unfortunately). I've been in this line of work for about 10 years.
