There is an older thread about this... but what the heck

Let's see...

I babysat and am still really good friends with Tom Candiotti's ex-wife and kids. Best kids in the world, I send them gifts every year. I'm not a baseball fan, but my friends are, and they would freak out when he called my cell phone haha.

Met David Hasselhoff. His daughter goes to my college. He was behind me in line at a restaurant, my mom started freaking out. He doesn't seem like a nice guy. He is pretty popular at my school... check out youtube lol.

I met Frank Thomas when I worked at Coldstone (ice cream) back in the day. It was the day he got traded, and the news made him look like a (bad word). When I met he was really cool, I remember he got a vanilla ice cream with nothing on it haha.

Also met Garrett Hedlund, he was the star in Eragon, was one of the brothers in "Four Brothers", and was in Troy. I was in high school and I was talking to a teacher during lunch and he walked in. Of course I didn't recognize him, and he had a broken arm at the time. I asked him how that happened and he said "oh just filming Eragon". Of course I had no idea what that was or who he was at the time, really nice kid. A couple months later I see a preview and he is the main star of the movie... duh lol. I felt like an idiot

I was neighbors with Tom Francis (old Coyotes head coach). I used to go over there and watch Sportscenter, and played with his kids every day.

Also met Mark Grace, a ton of pro lacrosse players, and some football players.

You should have asked "Why the long face."

Haven't really met many famous people...I've seen a few here and there, but tend to just watch em and leave em alone.

I hung out with a couple of the guys from the band Tantric in a bar back in 2004, right out of highschool...talked to a few of the guys from Breaking Benjamin at the autograph booth before one of their shows...had Jennifer Cella who used to be a part of Trans-Siberian Orchestra dance literally inches from my face (and it took every ounce of willpower I had not to grope her...would have totally been worth the jailtime...LOL). I shook Jim Edgar's (former governor of Illinois) hand back when he was still governor. That's bout it I guess...

Oh and I know a few professional or soon to be professional football players personally...Quinn Pitcock (played for Ohio State and went on to the Indianapolis Colts...retired early...but rumor has it he's "un-retiring" and either going back to the Colts or being considered by a few other teams) and Brandon Saine who currently plays for Ohio State and will most likely continue on to the pros. He was a year or two behind me in school...2 years I think.

I had a beer with Steve-o and Ryan Dunn of Jackass fame. When Ryan sat his beer down on our table, I was already pretty toasted and I said "Hey, Bam!" as in Bam Margera... He goes, "Did you just call me Bam?" And I said, "No, I said 'Hey, man...'" I was home on leave for Thanksgiving, must have been 2003. I gave Ryan my phone to call a friend of mine back at base who was an ungodly huge Jackass fan. He asked him to go to Iraq and get his oil back, so he could drive his Hummer home.

Those guys are crazy, especially Steve-o. But fun to drink with, if you can keep up.

I did something very similar, my wife and I were at the ACM awards at the Disney studios one year when I decided to go to the bathroom before the awards show started, I noticed the women's bathroom line was a mile long and there was no men's line at all. When I was leaving, Reba McIntyre was on her way into the men's bathroom and asked if there was any one in there, I told her no so she asked me to watch the door and don't let any in till she was done. Then at another Acm awards I was waiting out side the bathroom with other spouses whose others were in the bathroom and started a conversation a woman until my wife came out, I said good by and we left, then my wife asked me if I knew who I was talking to and proceeded to tell me it was Markie Post.

All my encounters happen to be at the crapper.

He's kicked our beachballs, he's thrown them offstage, he's read a couple of them (we signed them), and he's even played soccer with one onstage with Michael Utley back in the day. There's nothing on the planet like a Buffett concert. I love it when they get the giant, helium filled remote control shark going when he plays "Fins"!!!!
I'm a big parrothead too. I've seen him live about 11 times. When not online here I'm usually on Buffettnews.com
Nadirah's voice is awesome and she's beautiful.
I saw her live with the Coral Reefers a few months back at Magaritaville in Orlando. Jimmy was in the upstairs section drinking and dancing but did not perform that night. A few years back I was there when he did an impromptu gig and he walked right by me on his way to the stage. Short guy.

Right on. Have you been to Disney World and seen the Hemisphere Dancer? It's on display. It's awesome. Sometime back in 2001 or 2002, he played at the American Airlines Convention Center (Miami Heat's home) in Miami and had the Hemisphere Dancer out back of Bayside Marina. We were on the South Beach causeway and saw it. I've got pics, but don't know where they are. I've got a pic of me standing next to the Hemisphere Dancer in Orlando. Living in Key Largo, we went down to Key West at least once a month, sometimes more often than that. We went down on a Saturday once, to the original Margaritaville and found out that he'd made a surprise appearance there the night before!! Bummer.

My cousin is Wayne Huizenga and he used to own the Dolphins and Blockbuster Video, so we always met people he'd bring with to family reunions. The last I attended he brought Kid Rock and some other famous guy whose name escapes me. My daughter claims it was metallica, but that doesn't sound right to me.

Over the years I've met quite a few famous people:
  • Walter Payton came to a buddy's house with that big guy they called Refridgerator. Last name Perry??
  • Patrick Swayze used to shop in my store. It was halfway between his house and Albuquerque.
  • Brian Denehey was a customer for a bit, but he moved.
  • Hanoi Jane is a neighbor, but since I've only seen her in my store and never met her, does that count?
  • Val Kilmer is a neighbor. Lives less than 5 miles from me. Met him in a local restaurant. He's short! Real Short!
  • Don Imus used to shop in my store. His ranch for sick kids is near me. He quit shopping in my store when he found out I was blocking his water rights grab in the area. I won, he didn't. Real jerk!
  • I gambled with Willie Nelson in Vegas back in the 70's once. Weird table, I bet $5/hand and he bet $10,000/hand. I was winning more hands than he was. It was really weird watching that much money on the table.
  • I shot skeet one weekend with either Loggins or Mesina. I can't remember which one.
  • We had a movie staged on our property a few years back and Woody Harrelson and Sam Elliot were there. We had lunch in the same tent. The crew tried to kick me out, but I explained that since I was the property owner, I could eat where ever I wanted on the property. Everyone else ate on the other side of the tent from me.
  • Richard Nixon when I was a kid.
  • Jessie Jackson. My dad got excommunicated from church for that little meeting. Long story, but really worth telling.
  • Current Mayor Daley when he was the state's attorney.
  • A bunch of those morons in D.C. with obama, when they were morons in Chicago. Bunch of lying scumbags.
  • There are others that I can't remember tonight. I'm tired.

President Ford and Bill Gates to name two that I can think of. Brian Williams of NBC news fame, although he was with MSNBC when I met him. It was at a political event that President Clinton was at in Denver.

I've worked in corporate aviation for over 35 years, so I've worked on and seen a lot of airplanes from famous people, but it's rare to ever meet them at an aircraft maintenance facility.

I was born and raised in LA so Ive seen or meet one or two famous peeps and I just dont get star struck over them from growing up here.

President Bush came to visit us when I was deployed in Kuwait for OIF. I got pics to prove it. We had many "distingueshed visiters" during our tour.

A couple months before the Jessie James scandal, we saw Sandra Bullock and him shopping at Whole Foods, and my friends saw them trick or treating. They lived in Huntington Beach when he was busted.

I've met some over the years, but really have to think about it. It's not something I really pay that much attention to. I wouldn't count people I've just "seen" and not actually talked to. I played college football with Sam Mills who went on to a Pro Bowl career with the Saints and Panthers.

I met John Unitas at BWI airport. He was standing alone in the terminal. So my friend and I went over and struck up a conversation.

I've met Jim Kiick of Miami Dolphins fame. I used to work at a Health club in NJ with his brother Bill. Jim used to come to the club when he was back in Jersey to visit.

My neighbor growing up in NJ was actually Stallone's bodyguard and stunt double. His name was Tony Maffatone. He was a Navy Seal and a retired police officer before he started his own personal protection agency. He is credited in several of Stallone's films as a technical adviser and some small parts. It was always fun spotting him in the film. He passed away working on an underwater demolition that went wrong.

My dad met Tom Hanks in a bathroom in Vegas many years ago. I wonder what taking a leek next to Tom Hanks must have been like.

Used to work in radio when I was younger, so I have gotten to meet a few famous people... But my favorite was an unplanned afterparty that I got to go to with George Clinton and a few other members of the P-Funk allstars (Unfortunately, not Bootsy).
Ended up having drinks etc. after the show with them for a couple hours and had to sleep it off in my car.
