Holy Old Thread Revival, Batman! :o
Drank with Matt "Guitar" Murphy (Blues Brothers) when he played local clubs in CT. We had gone to a few shows, always talked to him between sets and he got to recognize us quick. After that we were on the guest list and had a table--much better for drinking and jawing then!
Back when Kenny Bernstein was still driving Top Fuel, we were in the pits at the Summer Nationals. He almost ran me down on his bicycle!
In '92 I was an extra (Confederate) on the set for Gettysburg. Met a few of the actors on the set, autographs, et c: Richard Jordan (his last movie), Steven Lang, Tom Beringer (jerk), Royce Applegate, and Sam Elliot. Saw Ted Turner and Hanoi Jane on the set but didn't get close to them; could have, didn't care to...
When the movie was released in '93, some friends who had also been extras and I went to the premier in Boston. The director Ron Maxwell and Martin Sheen were there for the event. We were wearing parts of our uniforms (shell coats & kepis), and when Sheen saw us he hollered "There's some of my boys!" and came right over, shook our hands and started talking to us. He kept us with him for the rest of the meet & greet in the lobby.
