Makes a great self-defense weapon as well. Most self-defense classes actually incorporate the use of a Maglight since they're so popular and LEGAL to wield......

(And they're great flashlights too! )

If you want a small one that is bright get the mini mag with 3 AA's and a 3 watt led bulb. Very bright and should last through the nite without changing batteries. Only about $26 with batteries and a belt holder.

Also a little tip: All I could find were black so I wrapped it with white electrical tape on the bottom 2" so if I drop it in the dark and it's off I can find it faster. I usually get a bright/lighter color so I don't have to tape it.

I'm sorry but mag lights are horrible pieces of junk!

If you want a real flashlight, top quality, Surefire is the best out there, but you will have to spend $150+, they will out last a mag light in any situation and are hundreds of times brighter.

I would never pay $150 for a flashlight. I have the mag light with the led bulb and it is very bright and all I need. Cost $30 at Costco and came with a small one too.

X2 on the steamlight. The strobe on it would completely stop any attacker at night. U can't see anything at all if it's shined in your face.

You are not alone. Most people have a difficult time shelling out thatt kind of money for a flashlight.

The Steamlight & Surefire brands make execptional products. Most of what they market are tactical lights. As lights go they are far superior to any other. The C4 led used by streamlight is remarkable in power output and battery life.

For checking under the hood at night a Mag light is perfect.
for fighting off badguys in dark places the streamlight defender with flesh peeler is the right tool.

Surefire is overpriced , check out brands like olight or fenix on ebay , exceptional lights for around 60 to 100 as much as I would pay. I bought an olight m20 on ebay for 64 and its the best light ever . super bright and great battery life on low (over 100 hours) . I dropped it off a second story balcony onto concrete and its fine. Ive had it in the ocean 6 feet under water in my pocket for more than an hour and its fine. awesome light

Fenix makes a fantastic light. very bright. I can't remember the model I have, but I highly recommend them based on the experience I've had with mine (had is 9 months, use it all the time). uses AA batteries, and has a strobe function. (I tried it on myself, it was not pleasant).

I also have a surefire light on my shotgun. its a good light, but uses expensive batteries which is a downer (not any brighter than the fenix light).

My dad works at a gun store, so I got both of the above lights rather cheap...I'd like another Fenix...but he hasn't had any in awhile.

I also have about 6 Harbor freight "freebie" lights. they work well for jeep duty (among other things). They are bright, free, and free.
