Talking what's most important...

For those who have kids, and those who don't have them actually (you can speculate), what do you want most for your children? Success, money, happiness, fame?

When you wish for your kids, what is it that you want for them most? Or those who don't have children, what do you think is most important for a parent to want for their kids?

Another simple answer for me. Of the four options you listed, Happiness is first and Success should follow. Fame is not at all important and money does not define happiness or success.

I'm sure there's other things on the list, I just listed the stuff I'm used to hearing. Around here people are desperate for fame for their kids. I've known several moms who drag their kids all the way to cattle calls in Hollywood.... it's creepy.

Happiness is the only thing I want for my kids. The rest is gravy.

Health.
Everything else is within their grasp as long as they can live to grab it.

Good point, Skeet. But, hard question, are you teaching them to be healthy? Because health is not completely luck, it's work just like the rest. Eating right and getting exercise is learned.

I figured you were, since I talked to Amy about the heavy bag quite a while ago (plus you guys have the outdoors thing going on). Many people however believe that health is just one of those things you get lucky about (and there are some aspects of it that are) and never take control of it.

Scout, you knock it off. You would grab your baby girl by the ear and give her a good thumping if she acted like those twits.

Seems to be a common vein here. Funny, there's quite a few moms here who want their kids to be famous. It baffles me considering the news in SoCal is all about celebs and how nasty they act. Hell, we heard all about the latest PopTart adventures the last few days but all they reported about the hurricane was that is was raining somewhere east of here.

To be a participant in life, not an observer. To learn from my mistakes. To enjoy each day, even the rainy ones. To find what makes her happy.

Them main thing I want for my kids, GOD. PLEASE FINISH COLLEGE and GET A JOB....2 kids, 3 semesters each left and counting....

I just want them to get their education and then do what they want to do so that 10 years down the road they are not eating some green cards dust in the job market.

The main wish I have for my sons is that they grow up to be honorable men, caring husbands, and loving fathers. I wish for them the wisdom to take every opportunity to see and experience everything they can in their short lives and never take a sunset for granted. I wish for them the courage to always choose to do the right thing when faced with a tough decision.

I also wish for them happiness.

I want my kids to achieve their dreams, but also learn what it means to work for what they want. I am sure their defination of happiness will come if they can accomplish the other two.

This is what my parents wished for me.
