Had it happen. The guy who got me probably thought he did me a favor breaking the back passenger doors smaller window. most expensive window on the vehicle.

Pisses me off cuz they took my tool boxes for work which I'm not worried about the tools .....I'm a window tinter by trade easily replaced, but I'm more mad cuz I had pictures of my kids in there that are not replacable ... and few other sentimental things that would mean nothing to anyone else..

That is why we don't lock the doors on the TJ (soft top) or leave anything of any value inside!

Had 2 fella get into my jeep... I caught them, chased them down at 4 am. They were on dirtbike/fourwheeler that they had stolen earlier. I think they were coming back for more when I caught them. My dog alerted us. They had dropped some of my stuff off at a SUV someone else was running, but I ended up catching one of the kids, was about to beat him to death but my dad chased me down and stopped me, they guys all ended up in jail however... I never got 3 of my hunting knives back that were stolen. Still waiting to see if anything will ever come from it. They also hit a lot of other houses along our road, and in 2 neighboring cities. I probably should have just decked the kid and had my peace.

Sorry about the pictures of your kids, that is terrible and the thief will get his in the end... in life or in death. Just remember your kids are still around and you can make more memories, take more pictures, and life is still there. Don't ruin it by dwelling on what some scumbag did. Maybe take a little extra time for your family this week, and let this experience be a good one as it reminds you whats important; family and friends not possessions and money.

No problem man. Bad stuff happens to us all, you gota keep moving forward. I have a bad temper, I know what you are feeling/thinking right now. You'll feel better once you accept that there is no rhyme or reason for some of the bad things people do.

Happened to me 3 times when I lived in New York. Learned the hard way not to leave anything valuable in the jeep and to remove the stereo faceplate every time I get out and leave the doors unlocked. I'm sorry about your pictures, some people really suck I've been a victim of thievery as well. Unfortunately you can't stop it, however you can make sure there's nothing of value for them to find.

There IS a reason for why the dumbarses steal from you.
The dumbarses don't feel like they should have to work for anything. You work for what you have, & they just steal your sh*t, and they won't miss a minute of sleep over it.

My truck was broken into a while back. I know how you feel. It feels like you have been violated. Someone has gone through your personal belongings.

They broke in, through the passenger door, damaging the lock, & stole my AM/FM Satellite Radio.

I got the last laugh, though.
The volume knob on that stereo was going bad. It was getting really difficult to raise or lower the volume.

To those knuckleheads that got my radio ...
You took a chance, & could have gotten caught.
For what?
A stereo that was going bad!?!?

Ha, Ha!

Back to the topic -
It really sucks, but learn from it.
Like others have said, don't leave anything of value in your Jeep.

It's a shame that it has to be this way, but I guess that's the price we pay to own a Jeep.

Yeah, don't leave anything of value in sight in ANY vehicle. I learned from a breakin in my truck, i don't leave anything in the jeep. And i got one of those i-vaults for the radio and keep the metal plate on so they can't even see what the radio looks like.

But my truck got broken into once and they snaked my garmin, and one of my cell phone chargers. Didn't touch the other charger, the really nice radio I put in, my CD book, or anything else. I was more pissed that they broke my window than anything else. But it was my own fault, left the gps ON and on the window in plain view. Thought i was only going to stay at my friends house for 30 minutes or so, ended up falling asleep on the couch. Live and learn I guess.

Now I just don't leave anything in my vehicles, they stay cleaner this way anyway. I used to always have stuff I didn't even need with me, all over my truck.

Glad you got taken care of at work man.

Just wanted to share some break in humor for ya. A few years ago someone broke the window to my moms car while she was at burger king... mid day.

The loot they got away with. A bag of pretzels! Not the sunglasses, not change in the cupholder, not her cd's... they took a bag of pretzels.

Sorry to hear aboyt your situation. I havent had my Jeep long but got on this sight early and learned a thing or two from the reads here. I carry a backpack or saltlife bag whereever I go to hold the content of my jeep and never leave anything in there. Heard way too many "breakin" stories. As I live in florida I dont even put the top up after april. Except if im driving in the rain.

Have you checked into the "IVAULT"?
I think it's a metal lockable console that takes the place of your OEM console.

I'm about to take my hard top off next week and put on the soft top BUT I have a few security tips I would like to pass along for home security:

- Wireless IP CAM (comes with night vision and motion sensors) pointed at the jeep (records right on to my computer on any event I need on schedule, all wireless).
- Flood light with motion sensors (once again pointed straight at the jeep).
- Invest in an car alarm, any is better then none.
- Hood lock (when traveling outside my area).
- Don't leave ANYTHING valuable in your jeep (pretty much a given of course).
- Made a small wooden trunk for tools, emergency stuff ect with a lock, bolted down.
- Tarp it at night as it gives you extra time when any set alarm or light comes on.

I hope some of these tips may help other new and seasoned jeepers out there!

Tenvis, the original reason was to watch my cat on the enclosed patio entrance we have as normally we put those mesh screens so she can come and go as she pleases but I figure I would it to better use. It was 60$ via ebay and so far I use it with the CPU or my tablet with full controls. A worth while investment as far as I see it. If I were to take it a step further, I could check out the CAM remotely off my own network but I haven't bothered (yet).

I've got one in my TJ. It is basically a metal box with a locking metal faceplate.

You slide the radio into it, and secure it to the i vault with 2 sheet screws down each side. Then the whole box slides in and uses the same 2 screws and mount holes the normal radio does.

That being said, if they really wanted it, a crow bar or something would still break it out of there. However it will slow them down, and with the faceplate locked on there they can't even see what the radio is or if you left the face on it.

Now if you are able to bend that security bar enough so you can bolt the radio to it and hold it in from the back side, Then it would be REALLY hard to get that thing out of there. You would have to destroy the dash, or take the time to take it apart to get to that bolt on the back. Gotta be a desperate thief to go through all that trouble and take enough time to do it.

Had my driver's side window broken into. Funny thing...well now it is, it took them 3 tries to actually smash the window. Gotta love having tint on lol. But had my driver's license, insurance card I forgot to take in, and a few other important vehicle info on the passenger seat. Didn't touch any of it. What pissed me off about it is "security" was no more than 20 feet away and he apparently didn't hear or see anyone/anything. Ended up calling the security company, ripping the supervisor a new one, and made them pay for the window due to negligence on their part. I was happy.

Spend the money to put up a camera. Also you need to have the abilt to store video of at leats 2-3 days at a time.

If you invest your hard earned money into cameras be sure to protect them. I cut a hole in my garage wall. Put in a sheet of lexan. I mave two marks on my driveway. As long as i am in the two marks my cameras can see all the way around each car.

System has more then paid for itself.
