where is justice...

Quote:
Snyder was ordered to pay that amount to Fred Phelps, leader of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., an anti-gay group that travels the country picketing military funerals, after his lawsuit was overturned last week by a federal appeals court, the Sun reported. Phelp's group says military deaths are God's punishment for America's tolerance of homosexuality.

Snyder sued Westboro after its members waved signs saying "God hates fags" and "God hates the USA" at the 2006 funeral in Westminster of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who had been killed in Iraq.

Support grows for dad of slain Marine told to pay Westboro Baptist Church, which cheered son's death

I saw this yesterday too.

As a fan of the constitution, it's difficult to get mad in the extreme for me except for the financial "reward" given to this "church".

That said, it's too bad that the entire ordeal happened and that the courts had to get involved at all.

It's also too bad that it's borderline illegal to incite people to incinerate certain structures with certain individuals inside whist waving signs that say "god hates a$$holes".

Justice would be a group like the Hell's Angels showing up at their next protest and giving these bastards what they deserve. I'm thinking a steeltoed boot to the cranium might knock some sense into these nutjobs.

I watched a documentary on these people... they are really f&*k'd up! and the terrible thing about is they are all lawyers so if people screw with them, they sue em. thats is their primary source of income. These people really don't deserve to live.

I'm going to leave justice in God's capable hands. He knows how to deal with this far better than i do.

That whole sect makes Kansans look like a bunch of wackos. (We're not, I promise.)

Some day. Somewhere. Fred Phelps will have to answer for all of his hate.

Is it really too much to ask for both? I'm all for letting God deal with them . . but I wouldn't mind seeing God receive a bit of help in expediting the meeting.

Well said. That "church" and its activities where they picket funerals of our military heroes REALLY gets my blood boiling. I actually get so pissed off whenever I read about them that I try to avoid even thinking about them. Thanks for riling me up all over again Tiny.

Edit: P.S. Bill O'Reilly's offer to pay his judgement was outstanding!

Which is your prerogative for certain. But the behavior of these people is no more Christian than that of the Hutaree militia. True Christians would not likely have anything to do with either group. It's the baby with the bathwater thing.

Here is the point if that group or any group was doing this when my buddy died in Iraq there would of been more then words between me and them. In this case I will take jail time for any one of our fallen troops. The reason these people can do what they want is because men and women are dieing for them to have these rights.

Same here, I don't understand how these people haven't gotten violent. If someone was picketing the funeral of one of my loved ones, and saying these kinds things, I don't think I would be able to restrain myself from going over there and smashing one of their faces in. I don't think I could restrain myself even if I didn't know the guy who died. I got all worked up about it when I read about it yesterday during work.

I can't wait till this asshole dies and everyone pickets the crap out of his funeral, I may have to make my way over to Kansas when that glorious day comes.

I think the thing that upsets me the most is that they are teaching their kids that this is how things are suppose to be. These poor, innocent children are being corrupted.

Between this and all the child rapist priests and other "men of god", I don't know how anyone one can still look up and thank god. I'm sorry if I offend, but if there is a god, he is an cruel and inhumane narcissist.

Here is a passage from the speech What Is Religion by Robert Ingersoll from 1899. (He is actually my great, great grandfather)

"Did an infinite God create the children of men?

Why did he create the intellectually inferior?

Why did he create the deformed and helpless?

Why did he create the criminal, the idiotic, the insane?"

"Can infinite wisdom and power make any excuse for the creation
of failures?

Are the failures under obligation to their creator?

Second -- Is an infinite God the governor of this world?

Is he responsible for all the chiefs, kings, emperors, and
queens?

Is he responsible for all the wars that have been waged, for
all the innocent blood that has been shed?

Is he responsible for the centuries of slavery, for the backs
that have been scarred with the lash, for the babes that have been
sold from the breasts of mothers, for the families that have been
separated and destroyed?

Is this God responsible for religious persecution, for the
Inquisition, for the thumb-screw and rack, and for all the
instruments of torture?

Did this God allow the cruel and vile to destroy the brave and
virtuous? Did he allow tyrants to shed the blood of patriots?

Did he allow his enemies to torture and burn his friends?

What is such a God worth?

Would a decent man, having the power to prevent it, allow his
enemies to torture and burn his friends?"

I would have to say something if I saw them in person.
Just imagine them standing there with those signs next to your dead son at his funeral. That would throw me off the edge.

I can't believe this hasn't errupted into violence already . . . what do you want to bet they have the police there in force to protect them each time they go out and do this . . . another example of our tax dollars at work! I think the father or any other mourner would have a good temporary insanity plea if they were to beat the living s**t out of these losers. I don't really care what the judge instructed me to decide on or what my civic responsiblity is, I wouldn't find someone guilty for beating or even killing these people, if I were on the jury.

You know what I don't understand... people who snap walk into schools, their place of employment, etc, with guns and shoot anybody and everybody in their path. Similar people will also target presidents and other famous figures that they don't like and without a valid reason.

How is it that NOBODY has ever pulled a gun out and blown the brains of these "Christians" all over the pavement considering these people actually display a valid reason for being publicly executed? I'll be perfectly honest here... if these people who to show up at a good friend of mine's funeral protesting like that... I wouldn't stand around and take it lightly. For one, these people make me sick... to go around CELEBRATING the deaths of the people who gave them the freedom of speech they are now taking advantage. And two, if it were a good friend...chances are, I would be in a very volatile state of mind. My gun holds 15 rounds.

I would probably walk up and put 14 rounds into as many of those "Christians" heads as I could so long as no innocent bystanders were in the crossfire (I may be heartless...but I also have SOME compassion). The 15th would go into my own head so as to avoid a massive amount of prison time and so I would die a hero in the eyes of most TRUE Americans without being bashed, belittled and criticized for my actions in court. Mods...this post may be pushing legal boundaries. If you feel it's gone too far, feel free to delete it...I won't bitch or repost it. And any government officials reading this...keep in mind, I'm stating this theoretically...IF they were to protest a good friend's funeral...since currently none of my good friends are deployed anywhere dangerous, the likelihood of this ever occurring is slim...so don't bother sending your men in black suits to interrogate me.

oh, don't you worry i'll be right there in hell too (i am not religious). that's why i wanted a "special" place for them, away from the general population.

these people make me sick and angry. it makes me so unfathomably angry to know that there are people out there that are so disgustingly inconsiderate and awful to do that kind of thing, especially in the name of their "lord" or "savior." if i am not mistaken most religions teach tolerance and love for a fellow man. i hardly think that jesus or god would want these pieces of rotting excrement protesting in "their" names in situations like these.

definitely hear ya there s3nt3nc3d.

but this is why religion is f'd up because it creates visions of how things should be... but they never will. Religion is the cause of so much violence its ridiculous. no offense to anyone
