Where do your people come from? Do you still live in the same region? Are you a Yankee or do you know what boiled peanuts are? Ever had grits, or is yours cream of wheat? Do you think BBQ means using a grill or specifically smoking a pig for 6+ hours, then pulling it? Do you call bubbly drinks sodas, sodapop, soft drinks, or are they all cokes? And most importantly, Coke or Pepsi?

I am a grit gobblin', coke drinkin', boiled peanut lovin', pulled pork eatin' Southern boy, from just outside Atlanta. Never lived outside the South, and do not intend to. And they are all cokes.

I've done enough traveling for two lifetimes and yes, I've tried all that. I've settled down in the great south west.

Oh, and I love soda with my bacon.

Born and raised in NJ with a Southern Boy of a father. I've lived in WA and now down in VA (though, I'm not sure if NoVA is really considered the south).

I like northern and southern food. And, it's a soda. I like both Coke and Pepsi.

I lived in Mississippi and Georgia for a combined 24+ years (21 years in Mississippi) before being relocated for work to Orange County, California; lived there for a few miserable years. After begging to get out of there (not the kind of place for me - nice to visit, but do not want to live there ever again), I wound up outside Philly.

Been here for almost 10 years now, and I like the region. It is not quite The South, but close enough for me.

One day, I will move back South.

Born in the South; Arkansas. Everything is a coke! I have lived in Dallas, Portland, Albuquerque, and now Flagstaff. I love traveling and seeing different area's but I think the southwest is the place for me. Love the dry weather and the food. Hatch green chili is the greatest thing ever

from MD. whether that's North or South depends on who you ask. I live a mile from the house I grew up in, so you could say I have deep roots. I love all things Maryland- rockfish, blue crabs, Old bay, the Ravens, national premium beer, gravy on my fries, and utz potato chips. it saddens me that I may soon have to leave due to the shifting political climate here. Grandmother had religious roots similar to Amish and wife is from the south, so our food palette is varied. I prefer Pepsi, but could eat grits with every meal. bbq involves lots of time and smoke, everything else is just grilling. ALWAYS King Syrup on pancakes. as soon as kids finish in our excellent public schools, I'm outta here. probAbly settle in the south somewhere that still has seasons.

Born in Houston, raised in New Orleans and still here. Been all over the country. Will never leave the south. Other places are just too uptight. For instance, I was at my pals house one morning having a few beers before work. We look over and see his neighbor putting out their trash can. The neighbor has on a clown wig, Doc Martin boots, sequined gloves, makeup and a cigar sticking out of his ass. Buttnaked! Did we freak out? No. My friend hollers out, " hey arnold,I thought you quit smoking? Where else but the south? I will never leave.

Ala-freaking-Bama! Been round the world 5 times and all over the place in between courtesy of the USMC. Currently in SE PA but working my way back south shortly. BBQ is always low and slow. Grits and catfish please. And always a splash of coke with my Jack. I love my roots but the one thing I have found in all my travels is that people are people. There are good and bad regardless of location, age, creed, race, religion, etc etc. Here's a toast to all the good people! Cheers!

Born and raised in the foot hills of the Appalachian mountains right on the banks of the beautiful Ohio river. Small town of Gallipolis OH. If you've ever heard of Point Pleasant WV's moth man I grew up across the river from where he calls home.

I'm from Texas and will always claim my heritage, but I live in South Carolina. Definitely not the same, but survivable.

Born and raised in south louisiana. No intention of ever leaving. BBQ is what you make of it. Nothing but coke . Pepsi not allowed.

Born at Northside, raised in north Fulton / sandy springs / Roswell / Alpharetta, but when Alpharetta was still horse country and before Roswell faced the 2nd Northern invasion. Long before the Ferrari dealer showed up (and took one hell of a cool 'make out point' away).

Boy, I sure am glad I added bacon!

Philly. Cream of Wheat, but I like grits too. (Also polenta, Italian way to fix corn meal) They're sodas, including ice cream sodas. Coke / Pepsi don't matter, rather have a birch beer. BBQ is long and slow (sweet tomato based sauce applied at the end) Want my peanuts roasted.

And the big sandwitches we eat are hoagies, not subs, or zepps, or grinders.

Ozark Mtns, southern Missouri. Coke is the name of any cola, regardless of brand. Barbecue sauce is a condiment, not a cooking ingredient.
I've recently moved to SW Florida. With so many people from so many different parts of the country here, there doesn't seem to be a defined culture like there is in South MO.

First 21 years in NC, next 17 years in the Midlands of SC with yellow BBQ, and now in the Paris of the Plains where they BBQ anything. Still haven't figured out what "pop" is after four years in the Midwest. I am slowly converting folks to Duke's mayo, one poor Miracle Whipped raised soul at a time.

Born and raised in Utah. "Soda" is the drink of choice, and always comes in a minimum 46oz refillable mug. Cap'n Crunch cereal is the closest thing to grits. BBQ is a menu item at Arby's and is served with Horsey sauce. Lime Jello with shredded carrots is mandatory at all potluck dinners. Utah is also the birthplace of "fry sauce" a mixture of mayo and ketchup for dipping french fries. The women are the prettiest I have ever seen, although they are about 10 years behind the current clothing fashions and hairstyles. The predominant religion does have the market cornered on fancy underwear.
Oh, and bacon is enjoyed by all.
