Well said, I gotta admit that if it wasn't for the USAF A-10 Warthogs taking care of the Iraqi tanks we went up against in Desert Storm, I might not be here.

A-10 warthog...The most badass airplane ever!

After 23 years of active and reserve (currently) status in he Army I know I pick at the other branches some but we're all in it together and you can be successful regardless of your banch if you put the effort into it to do so. My last deployment I was assigned to an Air Force SF battalion and had Marines assigned to me for my dismount team and we all had a blast. As always, and as a former recruiter, I try to encourage anyone wanting to serve to visit every banch to see what they are about...and keep an open mind.

I remember the A-10's in Desert Storm. My fondest memory is taking on and taking out Iaqi T-72 tanks with 8" self-propelled artillery at 2000 meters. We somehow had advanced to the front of the line and a squad on M-1's got trapped in a dry river bed, we were nearby and got an emergency mission to provide support. I know they were 24th ID but not the specific unit. Screw staying back to shoot long range missions, we liked to play in the front lines. Good times!

Lots of things have changed in the last 42 years....But I have worked for 30 years in the Production machine maint. field.... And I have worked around a lot of "NC Techs" or Electronic Techs. working on various equipment...
Every one of em was NAVY trained in one way or another, and they knew their stuff.
Good luck with your choice, glad you have the guts to join up, I hope you decide to make a career out of it because by the time you get your first enlistment out of the way , everything here in America will be moved to China and India....So you mise well stay in and retire, you'll have the best of everything when ya get out !!...."BH"
