While my guitar gently weeps

I was pretty pissed a while back after being unable to find the song "While my guitar gently weeps" by the Beatles on iTunes . . . I'm not a huge Beatles fan, I like some of their stuff, but there's just something about that song. I played the Beatles Rock Band recently which and fell in love with this song all over agian. Still can't find it thru iTunes, but stumbled onto these on YouTube and thought I'd share.

Beatles:

I thought this one was awesome too:

I haven't looked recently, but I believe the Beatles catalog is now on iTunes. There was a licensing dispute, but they settled it (maybe Paul needed the money for a divorce).

I think it had to do with Michael Jackson owning the rights . . . then Bank of America got them when he started having money issues . . . I thought once the bank got ahold of the rights, you'd be seeing/hearing the songs anywhere that was willing send money . . . iTunes, commercials, elevators, etc, but I checked iTunes just a week ago and only found covers of this song. Perhaps the bank is holding onto them and will give them to Mr. Lewis as part of his retirement package!!!

There are a ton of download sites that have the Beatles. I suspect some of them are even legitimate. Meanwhile, just buy the CD and rip it yourself. Cheap and easy, and you get the other songs too.

I tried to find anything by the Beatles on iTunes and there is nothing there actually by them, just Beatles music played by others. At least there wasn't a month ago. I ended up buying the CD I wanted (Abbey Road) from Amazon.com & ripping it to my IPOD.

This will hold me over for a while . . . I have that greatest hits album that came out a while back and it has most the songs I wanted . . . it was just this one song that I wanted and didn't feel like buying the entire White album. Musically this is without a doubt my favorite Beatles song . . . just love it . . . I think I'll listen to it again!

Good song...but I like the Spineshank cover of it better...

I grew up listening to the classics...but I dunno...there's just something about the Beatles that never impressed me much. My ex was a huge Beatles fan and my dislike for them always left her with a bitter taste in her mouth...lol

There's really only a handful of artists that I would say I like their body of work . . . for most it's a song here and a song there . . . for me the Beatles were one of those . . . most of their stuff I could live without, but they have a few songs that I really love. Can't say the Spineshank version does much for me . . . seems like the soul is missing from the music itself.

Schmo,

I'm not a fan of the Beatles...
never have been...and never will be.
I do believe however that EVERY band has SOME good songs.
I'm not gonna get into a pissing match about any of it on here,
but none the less...I just downloaded this song for you.
PM me with your email address...and I'll send it your way.

I'M A MUSIC LOVER,
and I too know what it's like to have a song plague my brain and can't get my hands on it.
There's one floating around out there that I've been looking for...for about 15 years.
IT EATS ME ALIVE

Here's all the info I've ever been able to find:

I've heard the song on 2 different movies...AND THAT'S IT!
Stone Cold (Brian Bosworth - 1991)
Under Siege (Steven Segal - 1992)

The song has been called both.."Ooh Baby, and Johnny Was A User"
and just...."Ooh Baby".
Here's the details:

1. Ooh Baby & Johnny Was a User (CRYER)
"OOH BABY & JOHNNY WAS A USER"
Performed by CRYER
Written by PAUL COLT, PETE SKYES, RICKY HART and STEVE ROSE
Published by CRYER BOYS MUSIC / THIRD STONE FROM THE MIDDLE
MUSIC / WB MUSIC CORP. / ASCAP
Courtesy of THIRD STONE / ATLANTIC RECORDS
from movie: Stone Cold (1991)

2. Ooh Baby (Screams and Dreams)
"OOH BABY"
Written by Paul Colt, Ricky Hart, Pete Sykes and Steve Ross
Performed by Screams and Dreams
Courtesy of Third Stone
from movie: Under Siege (1992)

One listing says it was performed by Cryer, and another says Screams & Dreams. The song on both movies is identical though.
I've never been able to find any REAL info on either artist,
or where I can buy the music.
Can't seem to locate either movie soundtrack either.

I know...I'm searching for "Movie Music".
I really dig the song though.
And when I get something stuck in my head...IT JUST DOESN'T GO AWAY MAN!

This has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it years ago. The Beatles are one of those bands that I love everything they did, but this is certainly one of their best. Also check out the Concert For George Harrison version. I think Clapton is pretty much the only one that can really do this song (other than The Beatles of course). After all, it was actualy Clapton that played the solo on the original White album recording (Harrison asked him to).
Check this out:

That's Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Billy Preston, Jools Holland, Albert Lee, Sam Brown, Gary Brooker, Joe Brown, Ray Cooper, Andy Fairweather-Low, Marc Mann, Harrison's son Dhani (he looks just like George). The greatest musicians in the world all on one stage playing that song is an amazing sight and sound.

Thanks for sharing, Screwjack . . . that was amazing . . . Clapton is the F***ing man!
