Ok, this is totally off topic (look Smeg, that extra F you bought me came).

Freedom of Speech is a right yes, but not on a privately owned board, so no, can't use that one here so much (though the mods and admins try not to do to much tampering.... unless I can bug someone).

However, yes, we do have freedom of speech in the US or rather freedom of ideas, but with freedom of speech comes other's freedom of speech and backlash for what is said has to be expected. You're free to say what you want, but so is everyone else.

In other words, you're free to say something stupid and I'm free to make you feel like a jackass over it.

Freedom of speech means Al Queda supporters can stand in front of The Houses of Parliament and shout "death to all non muslims" and encourage muslims to kill all christians.

But If I call a former teacher of mine a sex offender I get sued (what happened on friendsreunited.com (didnt invlove me btw lol))

Tiny, i was not referring to the forum freedom of speech. I was refering to this country in general. Matter of fact you are free to say anything everywhere else in the world too however JUST LIKE HERE, there will be consequences.

this is what i meant,

Neo is free to express his opinions, I am free to express mine...

whether its a forum publicly or privately owned, I am still free to speak my mind (ok type)

I thought by saying that the whole thing could be squashed. (at least Neo and myself let it go)

Yes, I believe you have freedom of speech. Go to China and say 1/4 of the things you say in the US (ex, religion, leadership, flat out disrespect towards people) and you would be flogged.

I merely was trying to defuse the situation but certain posts kept it going....freedom of speech at its finest.

Yes. Consequences, but you are still free to say what you want here in the United States and know that you will not be arrested by the authorities for voicing your ideas and opinions... barring saying things to cause a panic or a riot.

Every action has a reaction, be it equal or not. Take the Dixie Chick incident. They had every right to voice their opinions, just like everyone else had the right to react in a legal way. You can say what you want, but the rest have the right to react just as well.

So, if you think you don't have freedom of speech, or rather freedom of ideas, please test that theory and try and get arrested for voicing your opinions about something you believe in.

And I'm curious.... when exactly did Freedom of Speech come to mean Freedom of Consequences?
