who here works? (a job)

it seems to me a lot of people are on during the day and then on during the night so i was curious to know if there are some "early retirement" people out there or whats your situation?

Get the right job when you get out of school and you can spend the whole day on the forum.

I'm making a go of writing... but since Cain's retired it's hard not to spend every day heading out to do something fun, what with the mountains, desert, and beach being only an hour away.

Well I am in the Air Force (called by many the Chair Force), so I get to sit in front of a computer all day, and fortunately they haven't blocked this forum sight yet!

Well it is actually nice to just relax when I am here in the States, I get plenty of time over in much dustier parts of the planet, and then I usually work 16 hours a day for 6-8 months at a time. For now I will take surfing the web and drinking coffee!

In this day & age, many (like me) can sit at a computer screen all day, and call it work.

I don't labor, but they pay me for what I do. (didn't even go to college)

I don't have a job to go to right now, just the internet and a paycheck every week for me. It really does suck!

it does suck, i finally got a night job. i had quit my full time job to go to college. (im 20) so about 3 weeks into the fall semester my apendix burst and i was in the hospital for 2 weeks, once i got out i couldn't work or go to school, so i sat around the house for 7 weeks, finally got my work release last week so thats my excuse. but sitting around WITHOUT a paycheck blows!

I split my time between full time contracts and my own local computer and networking business. The full time dried up back last december and I have not found anything yet that actually pays decent money, don't want to go back to NYC, no no no. Hoping things will turn around this week, 3 jobs, 2 interviews per job, hoping someone pulls the trigger and hires me.

I'm between jobs right now. Scout has made me so much money working on Wall Street that I now watch soaps and play with my jeep.

I'm paid by the DOD to sit around doing nothing at all except keep appointments for my MEB. Sucks. But I used to have fun at my job!!!

I'ma ignore the misspelling... though it's really difficult.

I've written a couple but am still editing and rewriting to get them published. It's not quite as easy as writing it and getting it on the shelves. My current project is tentatively called Back into the Sand and it's about a soldier's journey into death and the medic who can't let him go.

The idea came from a story I wrote called The Well. It was a take on Valhalla, only not just for Vikings, for all warriors/soldiers. In that piece each warrior carried stones with them, the stones were heroic acts and afforded the soldier entrance past the bookkeeper into the city of the dead, instead of onto the boats which took souls back to where they started.

I wrote it initially in the form of a fantasy set way in the past. But I toyed with the idea of soldiers from different eras meeting each other in this place. Soon, I rewrote it into modern times but felt the story was much larger than the twenty or so pages I had.

Now it's set in a train station with a seasoned soldier who thinks he's home. The medic is the last person who touched DeHaven while he was among the living. They are connected until Jacobs, the medic, helps him find his path and lets him go.

I've been working on the concept of this version for over a year. Outline is finished, now I'm writing it.
