Who the hell ever heard of a cat...

... that plays fetch?????

Benny, the War Kitteh, plays fetch with a little stuffed jaguar we got him a week or two ago. Now mind you, this game of "fetch" involves Benny tackling the stuffed toy as it hits the ground, grabbing it by the jugular, shaking it a little, and dragging it back.

That's right. You say "bring it back" and he gets up and brings the damned thing right back to you to throw it again.

Seems like you have Benny almost as well trained as you do Ccain. Keep up the good work

My cat Bug (the island cat/scorpion slayer) played fetch when he was a kitten. I've got it on video. I would throw a little practice golf ball, you know, the ones that look like a golf ball sized wiffle ball? He'd chase the hell out of it and bring it back for another round. This would go on for HOURS if I didn't get bored of playing the game. He grew out of it though. He was a weird cat. He loved to get in the shower with me. He'd get SOAKING wet (no jokes please, I get the pun). He'd also play inside the toilet if I left the seat up. Let's see, what else......he'd only drink from a faucet, so you had to let it run while he was drinking. He carried around a dishtowel for the first year and a half of his life. I guess it was kind of like his comfort blanket. He'd drag that thing all over the house, sleeping on it and playing with it. And GOD forbid you leave a cup unattended anywhere in the house. It was a game to him to knock anything over that could possibly have some liquid in it.
Oh, and his favorite toy in the world...........straw wrappers. Loved 'em. Couldn't get enough of them. Cheap toys!!
He died on April 13, 2007 of cancer. He was almost 7 years old. I miss him...

yeah tiny both of my cats do that. the older one also begs for food and waits for me at the door til i get home from work. i swear he is a dog in a cats body sometimes, so much that we jokingly call him "dog".

Ours fetches birds from the back yard. Brings them in the house still alive and lets them go. Then sits back and enjoys the show while the little woman or I have to try to chase them out.

Wow guys, I've never had a cat play like this before and I've had a lot of cats over the years (I lived out in farm country in Kansas, there was always a new cat coming round). I guess you just have to play with them like they're a dog.

Cavey, that is just about the cutest story... love the name too. Bug. Great name.

The first cat we had after my wife and I were married (Cruiser) played fetch. He would bring these little bows to us to play fetch with. We had no clue where he was getting them from, but there seemed to be an endless supply. We never saw him get them, they would just show up. He'd play with one for about a week, and then we would throw it away. A week later he'd have a new one to play with.

Turned out they were in a box under a bed in the back bedroom. They came from our wedding. I'm told they were on the pews as part of the flower arrangements. Someone collected them all, put them in a box and shoved it under the bed while we were on our honeymoon. I guessed the cat found the box one day, chewed a whole in it and found the bows. We didn't find the box until a year after we were married when we moved.

My sister had a cat that would sit on top of the house at night and hunt bats. He would deposit them every morning on the front doorstep.

I lost a very special cat to old age about 2 years ago now. Picked up a gray and black tabby from the pound and the personality was all his. This cat played fetch, sat his toy next to me smacked it across the room then brought it to me and dropped it on my lap. He loved playing fetch. When I got home from work it was a rush to get out of my car. If he got to the car first he wanted to go for a ride with his head out the window. Loved going out on the 16' Donzi. We would drop anchor and it was sunbathing time for him. I wish I could find another even close to him. His favorite place to go was Petsmart with a leash on him, knew exactly what aisle his catnip was in. I miss Lucky

Yes, we were getting it ready for the beginning of the season test run and he was hanging out with us the whole time. Hooked up the truck and he climbed in. Figured okay, guess he wants to go. At speed he would stay on the floor (boat ran near 80mph) but anchored or exploring little coves he was up on the bow. He even had a small life vest, marine stores had them for little dogs.
My next cat will probably be a Savannah due to their traits and personality.

Does anyone elses cat lay like this?? Its the oddest thing. She walks into the room and stops walking with her hind legs but keeps walking with the front ones till she is laying down.

On a sad note I won't be able to take her to the UK with me so I will have to get rid of her soon.
