The State Troopers in Nevada have some wild lights on their cars. They look like all the lights on a slot machine the only thing missing is the da-ding-ding-ding-ding.

Yup, I have witnessed / been invovled in this scene several times, I still find it hilarious to watch a bunch of drunk rednecks try to flee. I normally just hang around try to act normal, no law against standing around.

I rarely use po po...never use 'five-oh', to me, a 'five-oh' is a 79-93 Mustang with the 302 HO. I just call em cops. And as for that smell, its marijuana, officer, and yes, I do have a medical card.

Thanks Tiny. I teach my boys the same. They both want to follow in my footsteps, but I'm not encouraging them. Until the general public steps up for us, I don't want my sons doing the job. It's too easy to get fired, sued or killed. In the end the public will decide you screwed up, not the bad guy. It's easy to blame the cops for everything. Catch the tone from the pot smoker's post? Cops suck, until he goes to a bad neighborhood to buy some pot and gets carjacked, robbed or beaten. Then he calls us, whining.
Don't worry pot smoker...I'll still come help you. I'm sure you'll speak kindly to me until I'm done fixing your problem.

JOE DIRT I know what you mean if a young adult does not respect themselves or their parents then they D@mn sure won't respect the police (well until there in cuffs then it's sir/ma'am). And also right about one minute it's d@mn it's the po-po then the next it's help Mr police officer. And what scares the hell out of me is my daughter loves it and wants to follow in my footsteps .

hey guys keep your eyes open for a new movie comin out called Black August, every LEO on here should know what its about and spread this around. its a movie about the life of the guy who started the Black Panther group. its being brought out by WB studios and they are making it to try and get the civilians and others to sympathise with this group. it could be dangrous for LEO's if these guys start back up. check it out and ask around about it.

Typical Hollywierd. Cops are bad...crooks are good. Don't they teach about the social contract in school anymore. For you youngsters...Peoples without government are denied justice, because the strongest will always get their way. People form a social contract with government; agreeing to give up some freedom to act any way they want and follow laws. In return they get the protection of the government in the form of justice.

The world needs an opt out card. If you refuse to make the contract, fine, but you are then denied police, civil and court services. I'm tired of helping people who hate me and feel they have no contract with society.

damn JD how long you been in? I agree with what you say about people not realizing what they're getting or have and wish that more would realize that not all of us are the bad guys. one bad cop can make us all look like fools and unfortunatly the bad part is 99% of what people see.

10 years. I guess it's the place you work. I work a ghetto. Sorry, no other description works. I point my gun at someone every day. Citizens get shot or stabbed nightly. We have a 30,000 to 1 ratio with the citizens and patrolmen. I get shot at by snipers. It's common to have large mobs try to lynch a prisoner and everyone wants to fight the police. It's a war and we're not winning. It's hard to explain to cops from other places. When I was younger I used to call it a fun night. I would never shy from a good fight, but it's getting old.

i agree there is little respect for the law...especially in my town, when i was in highschool i got pulled over more the 22 times before i graduated did i deserve it ...well now that i am "older and wiser" then probably but some times it was a bit ridiculous like for a dim license plate lite but those suspiscions probably came from the other 14 times i got pulled over for speeding etc. honestly i havent been botherd by the town cops since i got outta highschool and i am friends with many of them now and if i was in their shoes i would do what they did to me. it damn sure made me think twice before doing something stupid.

now i do have a question for the fellow officers of the law on the boards more of an opinion on what happend: so i was 18 driving a girl home from hanging out (IE grabbing dinner and a movie) and we were heading to her house when i saw a cop spin around and started to follow us well i kind of wanted to just see how far he would go so i drove away from her house and continued down the road up to the top of "mount agamenticus" (its not a mountain just called that its more of a big hill with a road to the top with a nice view) anyways....we drove up to the top with him following the whole way i get up park and get out he just turned around and left...wtf mate??

vaction time...WTf is that. Every agency is working short staffed so when do you get vacation time. I have on 21 years and am only allowed to take 3 weeks a year yet I accumulate over 5 weeks a year.

I just had hand surgery on the 11th. I have 3 weeks off for recuperation, however my Lt.s first question to me was "how long are you going to be off?" not "what happened to you hand". I really can't blame him when his bosses are getting pressure from outside sources yet those same sources are the ones with the purse strings and won't allow for anymore deputies.

JD works in Moreno Valley. Have any of you seen or been to Moreno Valeyl? It is the armpit of the I.E. It isn't much better than south central L.A. So if anybody has a right to be jaded it is him.

So you want us to speculate on what another officer did...correct? Man if I could do that I would speculate on the lottery numbers instead.

Could be a number of reasons...none of which are true, all of which are true and some of which are true.

Maybe he saw you "hanging out" i.e. loitering and recognized your car and wondered why that car is here now when I saw it there earlier.

Maybe your car is similiar to a car just used in a crime...maybe not.

Maybe the cop was just an Adam Henry and wanted to mess with you.

Maybe he recognized your car as the one who speeds all the time (you admitted that BTW) and was going to fang you again.

Maybe is was a slow night and he was bored.

Maybe he/she is paid to patrol and be proactive is his/her duties.

These are just off the top of my head in a few minutes...anyone else want to chime in on a few I may have missed. After all we are cops and we can mind read too.

Johnny Law is popular here for the locals (whenever they are around).

Statey is common for the troopers.

Maybe he thought you had his girlfriend in the car.

I had the same cop pull me over 2 times in a two year period. No ticket, he just wanted to buy my '72 Mustang.

Keep doing what you guys are doing. I'm sure it doesn't seem like it most of the time it appreciated, but from some of us it is. I have a few friends in blue, one just got moved up to the Chicago Toll Roads/Gary, IN area. When it gets that bad, just brake out the video from the dash cam, I'm sure its good for more than a few laughs.

I was going to say the same thing about getting jaded from his first comment he posted. but in that area I'm sure its not hard... vacation can be a lifesaver to anyone but expecally 5-0. I think since we deal with so many problems on the streets while at work were more prone to breaking down earlier. like KNJ said use that Vacation time whenever you get a chance I know everyone is short staffed and everyone is lookin for more officers to hire but your only human...well 10ft tall and bulletproof...but still human good luck guys and be safe out there. I'm heading in to the jail right now to dress down and work. take it easy!

JD and anyone else who works the ghetto district my hats off to ya! I thought the wanna bee's were bad where i'm at and I guess that long inone area/zone as we call it can dim your view of the people in that area. Have you thought or tried for a different position IE detective, traffic, patrol (don't know you present assignment )?. And yes it is getting to be a very competitive market on hiring and keeping officers so i guess vac time can be a b#@ch most of the time. Lets just keep our heads up and be safe...

nope not racial at all just plain simple jargon!! Would you prefer "the hood" or "The bricks" and i'm sure theres some i have not heard. Only becomes racial if someone makes it that way and surely that won't happen . besides the mods will keep us in line if it starts in that direction

I didn't read where any race was mentioned. There are good and bad neighborhoods of every race. Apparently you have never been to Yucaipa or Muscoy. Both "hoods" I have worked.

Ummm . . . . so what if there is? You with the thought police and are here to enforce the idea that nobody in this country (that prizes itself on free speech) can discuss anything that has to do with race? News flash, stud . . . there are differences among races and cultures. People make generalizations that are sometimes wrong, but most of the time are not. Get over it.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program.

I need a Clapping Smiley! I think that by working with so many different cultures and dealing with alot of the "scum" of this world I hardly consider myself racist. however there are many different ways people can consider you racist so I guess that some do consider me a racist, eventhough my girl is mexican .

First, I did not attack you as you did me, I simply stated that there were some going undertones going on. I would appreciate it if it didnt get any more involved than it already had been. Why? Theres no point. It'll just stir things up that need not be stirred. I am all for the discussion of races and cultures and there respective differences as long as it is done in a respectful, constructive, and productive matter.

While generalization are thought to be mostly true, they are in fact the opposite of what you say they are. A generalization, by definition, is seeing one person that looks a certain way or acts a certain way and applying what you seen that one person doing/saying/acting to everyone else who generally looks the same - hence the word: Generalization.

There was no need for the nasty reply.
