Wife got ia a accident

Well had to go get my wife calmed down after she got into a minor T bone accident at a 4 way stop, and the d*** that hit her ran. But she got his tag number thank goodness. I taught her well! Damages aren't too bad broke the step and pulled the brackets out of the frame, dented the hell out of the door and and scratched the flare. The thing that i'm most pissed about is it bent my 6 month old upper sliders.

Of course she called me and made it sound much worse than it was. I'm just glad she didn't get hurt!

The cops got the guy that hit her and brought him back so we got his insurance info and he got a ticket for leaving the scene.

I'll get more pics up when she gets home from work

Glad they got him, and that your wife is alright. Check to see if your state has diminished value benefits and go after him for that as well. Not every state allows it, and you have to push your insurance to go after them for it, but it's some extra $ for you.

Sorry to read about this. Thank the lord she's okay. And good luck with recouping your losses. Accidents happen but running when you tag someone is no good at all, I hope he receives the maximum punishment he can in this situation.

We are also glad it is all working out for the best and that your wife is fine. Seeking diminished value is a good call InfernoGirl!

Here's some more pics. It turns out that the dirt bag that hit her didn't have insurance he gave the cop the insurance info for the previous owner. WTF but on the bright side I've got uninsured motorist coverage so it'll still get fixed.

Don't be to harsh on the guy. Some people dont know what they do and they enter that fight or flight reaction LOL the obvious of the two being flight. Some people can get caught up in the anticipation and make stupid choices. Just saying, dont lable him an SOB or an ass until u actually know the guy

If you wanna concur something from a person leaving the scene right after an accident, you can claim low willpower.

I'm just going to bite the bullet and pay out of my pocket. My insurance company is going to go after him to recoup their costs. The way I see it is I'll get the door fixed and flare painted. I'll won't put the step back on or get the rocker repainted which only has a smell dent and scratches from his tire and I'll get a set of sliders.

I was nice to the guy i was just glad my wife wasn't hurt I couldn't have cared less about the jeep at that point.
Its not only that he left the scene but he didn't even have insurance on his vehicle, And he gave the police insurance information of the previous owner. I'm just glad I had coverage to still get my Jeep fixed at minimal cost out if my pocket

1st, glad no one was hurt.

2nd. I would say that based on him causing an accident, fleeing the area, no insurance, and then lied to police when questioned. It shows he is not responsible for his own actions, knows he was at fault and left an accident when someone could have been hurt, and then lied to the police about insurance which he did not have. I think that sums up the kind of person he is.

Thanks, And I thought so too its people like that who are the ones making everyones insurance rates go up. I mean I pay my insurance every month. Why shouldn't he? That's ok the police were informed by my insurance company so maybe he'll get another ticket for not having it on top of the leaving the scene ticket he already got

And now we have to wait for the insurance company to talk to the guy who hit her and the person of the insurance info he used to prove he sold the truck before I can get it fixed. This has turned into quite the ordeal.

I'm taking the Jeep to get an estimate tomorrow. It turns out the guy did have insurance, the cop put the wrong name of the insurance company on the paperwork. This looks like an opportunity for me to ditch the stock steps and get some sliders. The sliders will cover the scratches from his tire and I'll be able to save some money by not repainting the whole side

I went and got an estimate of the damages today. They had a heck of a time figuring out what to charge for factory step, something about it being a dealer option and not parts from the factory and it wasn't on the list of replacement parts. :dunno: Anyway total cost $2879.

Well today I got an estimate from the guys insurance company who hit her. So instead of using new parts they called a salvage yard to find the door and stuff. Anyway still $1700 in damages

Don't accept the estimate from the guy's company that hit her...they're going to lowball as much as they can and use shops they have deals with in order to keep their expenses low. I believe you have the right to choose what shop you have do the work and I would ensure they replace all damaged parts with NEW parts. And if they complain, all you have to respond with is, "Well, I wouldn't be needing to replace these parts if your customer hadn't hit me, right?"

I'll have to say something to them they still haven't accepted liability yet. But at this point I'll just be happy to get a used door that I might not have to get painted and some sliders to cover the scuffs on the rockers
