I dual boot Xp pro and Kubuntu, I've always preferred KDE over Gnome.
As far as XP or vista, why pay to be a beta tester? they finally got most of the irritating bugs out of XP and from everything I've read, Vista is an even bigger resource hog and all it does is give you a little more eye candy.
Sorry, until XP no longer does what I need it to do I'll stick with what works.

stick with xp. If you want vista wait for sp1. Also with vista 2gb of ram is nice.

Also if you know a decent amount about computers you could do some reading and build your own pc. Thats what I do. You get alot more for your $$$.

I would show my custom built computer... but its a "sleeper". I used an old, beat up BestBuy tower I had laying around the house, haha.
