Wireless router advice.........(help!)

Who makes a good one? For less than $100.

A brand and model # would be great help.

Thanks.

Hey pointy, We run this one at the house.

I got it on special at Office Max for like $69.00. I see the price is back up to $99.99 but it still kind of fits your criteria. It's awesome. The security on the thing is badass and it's very reliable. The range is farther than expected as well.

Hope this helps!

Linksys - b/n/g like 80 bucks I personally run a netgear gaming router but that is 150. Netgear or linksys they will be in the 60-80 dollar range. The more price normally the farther the signal will travel in the house. Along with the better ones the signal bounces better off of walls. So they work in 2/3 story houses.

But at least you got 5 years out of it, I paid $80 for it on e-bay. I could not understand why my computer was running so slow and and losing the connection.

I have a cheapy netgear and it runs 2 wireless (1 upper floor and 1 on the mid-level and one desktop (lower level). Only problem I have is when the microwave is on I can't get a signal to the laptop next to it. No connection problems other then that.

I have a linksys Airplus extremeG, whatever the hell all that means. It's fine except that the digital wireless phone causes you to get bumped off-line.

That looks to be the same one I'm running. I've never had any problems with this one. I've had it since May. I like it!!

We've been running this one for a couple years without trouble. It provides surprisingly good coverage all the way out to my shop.

NETGEAR WGR614 54 Mbps 802.11g Wireless Router

Wireless N is just the next step in the wireless protocols. It's an improvement but one you most likely wouldn't notice under normal use and you'd need to be running a wireless N card in your computer as well as the router for it to work.

Nearly all N routers also support older G or B WLAN cards in the computer.

But you won't get the benefits of "N"

I have a Linksys WRT54GL. I have had it over a year no problems, even if you do they have great customer service/warranty. When i use to install and build home networks for people this was one of my first choices. There are mixed reviews on Linksys, but the GL is a great router. Working in a comm/computer field i would recommend this one. If you are running wireless in a big area you want to stay away from internal antennas, they dont provide the power needed.
