Wisdom Teeth

Whos had em yanked? Gotta go get it done tomorrow. Never been under anaesthesia, nervous about it. And horror stories won't make me feel any better.

I've had it done. It was easy as cake. Mine were not impacted so I can't comment there. I don't remember anything from the time I was put under until the next day. My wife told me I kept saying how pretty a Wells Fargo bank was that we drove by on the way home.

I went under general anaesthesia and had all four of mine removed. All four were impacted, and I had quite a hole in my jaw from one. Doc said my face would be partially paralyzed because of the one tooth was wrapped around the nerve.....

Came out fine. Even survived six months of dry socket. Wasn't.... too........... awful.

Oh and apparently I went apeshit when I came out of being under and they escorted me rather quickly out of the hospital.

Don't sweat it, when they took mine out they put me out and when I woke up it was all over. Don't buy into all of the horror stories. Just make sure you give yourself some time for everything to start getting some feeling again, I tried to drink a soda from a bottle way too early and spilled it down my shirt.

Had mine yanked 28 years ago, by the USN...after all this time, had a shard they missed surface...damn, that was worse than getting the teeth removed! Again, no complications here, no worries!

Yeah.... Had one of mine pulled by a military dentist.... Wasn't too bad.

He strapped me down to a chair then got out a hammer, coping saw, some pliers and a cordless drill. Had me drink some whiskey.... He said there were some complications and had to take em out thru my ears. Oh well, I'm deaf now, but at least my teeth dont hurt.

Oh and BTW.... He gave me the whiskey and by the time I was done drinking it... He asked me if I was ready! I said "Hell yeah, I dare you to try to pull that sombitch now!"

Yeah I've had a tooth pulled out using that chisel/leverage technique. Can't say its my favorite experience.

oh i had a fun time.. my bottom right side wisdom tooth was fused to my jaw.
the had to use scalpels and a medical dremel deal with a saw wheel. they ended up sawing my jaw apart to get it off of it and out. then wired it back together.

best stuff.... they only numbed me with the needle, needless to say that wore off before they were done

i wasnt a happy camper for a few days....gotta love the military doctors

I had all of mine yanked while in the Navy as well, two shortly after bootcamp, and 2 while underway! Just had a local both times, but I made sure to tell them both that I had a high tolerance, so I got plenty! After the first two, the bottoms, I was so far out of it it wasn't funny, but I think I had a steak for dinner that night! Uppers were a little harder, but nothing to write home about!

Just ask for morphine when you wake up, man that stuff is AWESOME! I got it after knee surgery, I wanted to get the other knee cut so I could get some more.

So I got all 4 out. Not as bad as I thought. I just hate needles and all the assosiated. This sucks keeping gauze way back in my mouth, making me gag. And I can't smoke any pot for 48 hours from what they say. But they gave me Percocet and antibiotics. I'm not big on any of those pain killers, thats the reason I have a Marijuana Card instead of a vicodin prescription for pain and whatever else for anxiety. I bought some infused honey from the club yesterday so I will make some tea and see how I feel.

i just took the gauze out and licks my wounds. dogs do it right? I was able to eat solids very gingerly after about 3 days but i ripped one of my stitches only to make it bleed a little more. its heals pretty quickly considering there are 4 quarter inch holes at any given corner of your jaw

Dont whatever you do eat french fries before its all healed properly like I did.
There IS NO PAIN like the pain of a piece of french fry pressed down into the hole where your tooth was.
