It would probably be for the same reason I haven't said mine.

I felt mine was a curse growing up but realized after I got older that I was named after a great and noble man, My grandfather.

BTW it's Ernest.

My son's middle name is Dowd. I wanted to name him Wellin, but no one thought that was a good idea. I figured it would give him a leg up in life.

I'm not telling mine. It makes my name sound too much like I escaped from Hee-Haw or the Dukes of Hazard.

My Dad wanted to name me Renae (for a first name) but my Mom said it sounded like a bubble dancer's name.

Ummm... I think it's a kind of strip dance but instead of taking off clothes, the dancer pops balloons? Er, here, read this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_dance

I used to think my name was "old fashioned", but what do you expect..... being named after both grandmas: Mae

...and like most of us, if it was said attached to your first name: you were in trouble

First off, I think I'd kill myself if that were the case... I'm orange and blue through and through, War Damn Eagel. Secondly, I was born in MI, I was raised as a UofM fan, and have never, nor will I ever like the crimson tide nor that coach that they all worship.

If my full name was used I could expect to die. I was in trouble if my formal first and last name were used. I guess all three combined was just to long to say and was only reserved for the most extreme situations.
