Was just thinking that I'm going to avoid going out for a few weeks. Probably not the best time to be on the trails.

You must be in Texas. It's windy and BF sadly has been a tender box waiting to go up. A buddy and I were talking about it a few weeks back while Frolfing out there. Sad times.

Yeah ive spent a lot of time in that forest. Many friends and family have houses that are most likely gone.

I know how you feel. A lot of my friends from school live in the forest. It's rough man. Part of my childhood is basically gone.

It takes about 100 years for a forest to fully regrow. The burned trees up by moab hill area that happened 20 years ago. Its just now sort of coming back.

At this time there are fires only to the north and south of Denver, rocky mtn park and colorado springs area? Reason I ask is I should arrive late next Thursday but will be west of Denver.

Tim,
Be aware that it is pretty dry right now and there is a fire ban in most of the state. Bring the Coleman!

I've got a decent sleeping bag and liner if needed, that's all. I figured there would be a fire ban too

Not sure but I saw your jeep at a stoplight today on the 50... I think the smoke we are seeing here is from the southern fire and the western one. West fork and spanish peaks I believe?

my jeep? My jeep is still on a lift in our shop. We actually lost got the rear end in Yesterday. There's a LJ that looks pretty good in town. But I haven't seen any other red jeeps. And I guess there is that new fire! The east peak fire in las animas county and huerfeno (can't spell) county. 350 acres burning spreading fast. 0% containment. But a type 2 team called in to fight it. With air support. Lets hope they get it taken care of soon. The last thing we need is more fires.

We have a condo there we go there for spring skiing! (Boarding in my case). And this is the picture my sister sent me yesterday. She lives down in Durango. Her caption was "this is the view from your condo"

I did notice the last time I was there that there was a ton of Beetle kill. It was the ideal place for a fire to start. They need to get that one out fast!
