7/8 anyone wanna gofor a ride

Hey guys I was thinking of doing a run on Saturday. Since the girl won't be home and i don't have anything better to do with my time.
And ideas of where you want to go? I don't mind making a fair distance drive I just dot want to go alone but I will if I have to.

I am also addicted to 14ers... I have been climbing them with my good friend since we've moved out here two years ago. There are quite a few 14ers that will require use of a 4wd road to get to the trailhead; we plan to do Mount Antero this Thursday/Friday. The Sangre De Christo's also have a few; I know Mount Lindsey's trail is a Jeep road to above 13,000 feet. You usually can't drive above 14000 feet, but there are a lot of mountains that you can wheel then hike. That's the main reason I wanted a Jeep so bad, we decided to hike Mount Lindsey, and more than 3/4ths of the long hike was just a Jeep road that could have been driven if we had a Jeep...

Anyway, I don't know what your schedule usually looks like, but we try to do a 14er hike a couple times a month, usually on Fridays as we both have off. Like I said, we plan to leave this thursday night, drive to Mount Antero, and camp somewhere off the Jeep road. Then on Friday, we will drive up as far as we can, and then hike the rest of the mountain! Anyone who loves to wheel and hike as much as I do is welcome to join!

North and middle fork of the swan probably get you close to or above 12k and the ridge riding up there is pretty much the reason I got into wheeling. I'd be down for a run up in that area on Saturday, I have to pop into my homeowners meeting and find out where all our HOA dues are going but since I live it breck that would be ideal for me. You can connect North+Middle Forks to Sts Johns, Deer Creek etc. This is from last September in my old XJ.
I'm addicted to 14ers as well, knocked off #30 this past weekend and then climbed the West Ridge of Quandary for shits and giggles on Sunday.

Alright well let me look that trail up see what it like and we will go from there I don't really care what we do. I don't want anything to crazy cuz I don't feel like breaking anything again. But I'm even ok with a mild scenic trail

Alright if we can't get anything with a big ground and it's just us. Maybe we will run up to eagle rock and Saran wrap or something

Cool, lemme know. It fits the bill for 12,000+ but its not most challenging. You can add in Webster Pass, Radical Hill and/or Red Cone to take the difficulty up a notch.

Yea we can meet up somewhere. Just so you know the trails we are talking about are about 2.5-3 hours from the springs

Trails are open, I was up there a few weeks ago and there was a bit of snow in some areas but is been 75+ and sunny ever since so it should be clear. One snow patch on the shady side of the hill could still be there but I doubt it.

Coming from Cheyenne I imagine you would come through Steamboat to get to Summit County? You'll basically stay highway 9 south from Kremmling heading towards breckenridge and this particular TH is 1 left hand turn off hwy 9. Or we could meet in town since the Springs folks will be coming up from the South now that I hear 24 is open again.
What time are we thinking? I'll be heading to DIA Saturday evening.

Well you don't want to meet in Colorado Springs then. Pretty sure you come straight south to Summit County from there. I usually go up through Steamboat when I'm heading to Wyoming. Just google map or whatever Cheyenne to Breckenridge. Its pretty straight forward.

I could be interested in that as it would put me closer to DIA but it would depend on timing. I have this HOA meeting on saturday morning but shit I haven't been to one in seven years so I don't see why I would have to start now.
