My wife and I will be there... again! If you wanna have a great week, I can't think of a better way to spend one. We were members of MHJC for years and were involved in A4F in just about every aspect possible. I was trail boss in 2000 when the event was in Central City, and my wife and I were co-chairs of the door prize committee. We've lead trails every time, served beer, hotdogs, and even judged the show and shine one year.
Most folks camp for the week at the event site. You will meet hundreds of folks that do exactly what you like... hit the trail! There are 20 trails every day from mild, to some of the toughest trails Colorado has to offer if you want. There will be trips through the historic Camp Hale area, home of the famous 10th Mountain Division of WWII and beyond.
There is something for everyone, including the kids. A vendor day has reps from some of the major manufacturers and tire companies. As a matter of fact, a set or two of tires are given away every year as well as a winch or 3, and lots of other valuable prizes. There is food too
You won't need your air conditioner, but bring some rain gear and warm clothes. It's 10K elevation at Leadville. There is so much to do, and you will probably have so much fun, that you will be back year after year... many folks are repeat visitors.
Almost forgot... registration closes on July 15.
If you want more info, drop me a PM. If you decide to go, look me up... I'll be camped with the Fugowies (Patrol 12).
