Well it's that time of year again. April Phools run will fall on April Fools Day this year. Chinaman Gulch for the bigger toys (there are a few restrictions that Doug will post up) and we need someone to head up the light run. I can do it if there isn't any interest from others to lead. Meet as usual at Gunsmoke in Johnson Village at 10Am. Post up if your in. Now get all the upgrades finished!!

Here is Dougs recommendations from last year.
I agree with them all especially the "don't follow Doug" ones.

"This trail is rated from a solid 5 to a hard 8. On a TJ or YJ I recommend a minimum of 33" tires and 3" of lift. On a JK weather it is a 2 or 4 door I recommend a minimum of 35" tires and 2.5" of lift. Cherokee I would say a minimum of 33" tires and 4" of lift.

Don't follow Doug.

You do not have to have lockers in your rig for this trail. You will want to be able to disconnect your sway bars and air down your tires.

Don't follow Doug

Rookies are always welcome. Only thing I will say is you NEED to listen to the spotters. We will get you with a veteran so you will be able to get through as easily as possible. Now if you choose to ignore our suggestions, you may find out the hard way that we might have been right.

Follow Doug?

Now this a great trail but come prepared. Tools, spare parts, tow rope, and such are always nice to have. Watch the weather. April up here can still be chilly. Be prepared for the weather.

Really you want me to do what???

Bring a lunch. This trail is 7 miles long and takes about 6 hours to complete. Water, snacks and such.

(SHH I think he's not all there)

For those who I have not met or have not been on this trail. I have ran this trail MANY MANY times. I average about 7 trips a year and have been doing it for close to 10 years. If you don't feel comfortable doing something, dont. Some of the obstacles do not have bypasses. We will get you through it though.

So yes this is a fun trail, we know how to do it, we will scare a few of you, but damn it it's alot of fun.

Oh and yes, for those who have not met me yet. I am Doug / BV Jeep. May of us have built our rigs because of this trail. We started out a lot different than we are now. I may be a little crazy but I have a lot of fun."

If I can get the gears and wiring all done, I'll plan on making it. I need a cb, though. That way I can listen in on the "rookie" remarks.

So it looks like the RVeep will have bigger shoes for this run. Still doing the lite run because we're going to head from BV down to Arches, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon and then back through Bryce and National Reef for a little vacation. Still planning that out but don't want to take the risk of breaking anything before the trip.

If the weather is anything like today you'll want the top just for shade. I'm getting crispy out here!

I've had my soft top top the past few days because of how warm it's been. At some point I should put the half doors on. But for now, I'm good. Ooo, so Mike and Chad are getting down to their skivvies? This should be a good run lol.
