Ok so here goes the Chinaman's Gulch suggestions. I recommend at least 32" tires and at least 2.5" of lift on most Jeeps. Lockers are not required . There are bypasses on the real hard stuff. You will have to get through the Waterfall/Whales Tail. Right side is the easier side. You will also have to go through the obstacle on the top. It used to be called the wedge. If you are not sure if you can run this trail, don't. This has some areas on it that you must go through. Last year everyone made it through but the ones on 32" tires and smaller lifts wished that they had bigger tires and a bigger lift. There are some great people already going on this trail. You have to trust your spotters on the hard stuff. If not don't blame them. If you hear of someone that used to run this trail stock on 31" or smaller tires, ask them when the last time it was that they ran it and how many times did they hit something on the lower parts of their rigs???? If you want to run this trail on your smaller tires and no lift, come on along. There will be no complaining when we get through the trail. I don't meat to be the bad person on this trail but I have seen rigs of all kinds complete this trail but many times I was behind them waiting on them to get pulled out or a bunch of rocks placed so they could get through.

Now If you have the right rig, come play. This trail is a blast!!!

Meeting time should be around 10:00 at the truck stop just before Buena Vista on HWY 285 in Johnson's Village. East side of the building. After we are done we can go to the Coyote Cantina also in Johnson's Village.

Well said Doug. As someone once told me, if you want to run the trail I won't tell you no, but I will tell you it might not look the same when you are done. And this trail has the potential to change your under carriage.

Also Doug is an excellent spotter. He has got some rides through spots I didn't think they would get through.

I second Doug as one of the best spotters I have wheeled with. If the sound of metal on rock bothers you this is not the trail for you. A few lines put you very very hard on your rockers. You will drag lower control arm mounts

Ed, I can give you a lift. You ain't got no excuse now! Of course this all hinges on my steering being fixed. Which it should be by then.

Yup, I love cold weather camping. That pic was from the Jeeptober weekend in October. Everyone kept saying "you can stay with me...etc" (because everyone on this forum is so nice) But I was pumped to light up a big fire in the cold, drink 6 tasty beers and then slept like a baby in my tent with a bunch of blankets. Woke up on Sunday morning to snow on Princeton and that view while firing up the french press. Tough to beat that....

Sorry for the hijack but what did you expect....

Should be good. I ran it last year with 33's and 3.5 lift on my TJ. just have to be wise on lines and expect a little bottom scraping.

Just dont be stupid and use a heavy foot is a good general rule haha I am a great spotter and cheer people on I like to think big tires are over rated even though I want 37's hahaha but dont forget you can always park it an ride alone or be the camera man! Its still fun! I had to wheel bone stock with no money and all lol
