Balance Rock Trail on 1/25/14?

Ok. So I am not the most knowledgable of the trails around Colorado Springs but apparently Balance Rock may be a good, get out of the house run according to traildamage.com. I'm running a stock JKU. My buddy is a newbie (so am I) and his JKU has a small lift. We are looking to go out next Saturday, weather permitting. Anyone have any knowledge as to if this trail is open this time of the year and if so, would anyone be interested on going out with us? Thanks!

I have done that trail a few times. There was some snow on it a couple weeks ago that made a few spots a little slippery but not bad. There is one part towards the bottom that will really flex your suspension but I would think a stock JKU could make it past that. That would be the only part that is questionable.

I'm not sure as far as N. CO. I would check out traildamage.com they have CO trails listed alphabetically and with what county they are in. Hope this helps. Good luck!

^^ Anytime! We may have a third for this run! Suppose to be 58 on Saturday (in town) so hopefully that carries up to the trail a little bit.

We are thinking we will meet in Monument around 9-10, coming from Colorado Springs (where we will gas up). Obviously it's not set in stone yet but our understanding is that we can get to the start of the trail via Monument. I'd say more than likely the McDonalds there at 9:30.

Anyone know if it's good to do balance rock from the bottom up, or should we try to go to the top of the trail off of rampart? I saw that the directions on trail damage say the trail head is the top right off rampart range road.

Balance rock currently just has one way in and out. You go in from rampart range road and have to come back out the same way.

I've got a group of about 3 rigs plus mine from Denver that were planning on running some trails in that area on Saturday. Maybe we could meet y'all in monument.

That sounds great! I think we are still deciding on a meet up point... I guess there is only one way in and one out for Balanced Rock and there may be more coming from Denver.

Had a good run, we had one jeep with some technical difficulties but got to watch @Shooff96 winch out a Hummer (missed the perfect photo opp)! @3oh3 might have that photo. Thanks to all who went out.
